Accounts Payable Accountant

Role Description

Our client is looking for a technically strong and detail-driven Accounts Payable Accountant with prefebaly Big Four audit experience to take ownership of our end-to-end AP function. This role goes beyond transaction processing; it requires strong financial acumen, internal control discipline, IFRS expertise, and a continuous improvement mindset. You will play a key role in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency within the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

End-to-End AP Ownership

Lead the complete accounts payable cycle from invoice receipt through payment execution

Ensure timely, accurate, and policy-compliant processing of supplier invoices

Maintain strong internal controls and segregation of duties

Financial Accuracy & Compliance

Maintain the AP sub-ledger with accurate posting to the General Ledger

Ensure completeness and accuracy of liabilities in line with IFRS requirements

Monitor aging reports and proactively manage outstanding balances

Support month-end and year-end closing with high precision

Reconciliation & Vendor Governance

Perform detailed vendor statement reconciliations

Investigate and resolve discrepancies efficiently

Build professional relationships with vendors to ensure smooth operations

Audit & Controls

Prepare audit schedules and documentation

Support internal and external audits

Ensure full compliance with financial policies and IFRS standards

Process Excellence

Identify control gaps and recommend process improvements

Contribute to automation initiatives within the AP function

Drive efficiency enhancements using ERP systems and advanced Excel tools

Ideal Candidate Profile

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline

ACCA or CPA qualification (completed)

Big Four audit firm experience

35 years of progressive accounting experience

Strong working knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting

Hands-on experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent preferred)

Advanced Excel proficiency including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis

High attention to detail and strong analytical mindset

Strong sense of accountability and ownership
