Founded in 2010 by four dedicated animal lovers, Youth Organization in Defence of Animals (YODA) is a registered charity based in Mumbai focused on improving human-animal coexistence. YODA works to reduce animal cruelty through medical care for abandoned and injured animals, behavioral rehabilitation, and sheltering for animals until adoption or release. They engage in vaccination and sterilization programs to manage stray populations and prevent zoonotic diseases like rabies. Education and public awareness are also key components of YODAs mission to create a kinder society for animals.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Accountant role located in Mumbai. The Accountant will handle daily financial transactions, including bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, managing budgets, and processing accounts payable and receivable. Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with financial regulations, overseeing audits, maintaining accurate records, and providing financial reports to leadership for informed decision-making. Candidates will also aid in financial planning to support the organisation's animal welfare initiatives. Donor/CSR management, MIS reporting will also be important.

Salary - 30,000 - 50,000 depending on experience

Qualifications

• Freshers up to 4 years experience required
• Proficiency in accounting principles, budget management, and financial reporting
• Experience with bookkeeping and processing accounts payable/receivable
• Skills in using accounting software and tools, such as Tally, QuickBooks, or similar programs
• Ability to analyze financial data and provide strategic insights
• Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail skills
• Knowledge of financial compliance, audits, and regulatory requirements
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred
• Prior work experience in the nonprofit sector or an interest in animal welfare is a plus
