Assessment Accessibility Specialist Summary
Role Impact:
As an Assessment Accessibility Specialist, you will ensure Curriculum Associates assessment products meet the highest accessibility standards. You will work across Assessment Editorial, Assessment Design, and partner teams to align with current WCAG guidelines, reduce exceptions, improve efficiency, and deliver fully accessible content for students who are blind, have low vision, are deaf, or hard of hearing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as Accessibility SME; train and guide vendors and freelancers.
- Review and validate:
- Alt text, long descriptions, and ARIA labels
- Closed captioning (VTT files) and audio descriptions
- AI or human-voiced audio for Math/ELA items
- Reading order, page titles, and alt text in print PDFs
- Ensure all content complies with the latest WCAG standards.
- Edit Math/ELA items for accessibility accommodations such as text-to-speech.
- Support Operations Project Manager in cross-team handoffs.
- Build and maintain internal accessibility documentation and best practices.
- Create and deliver accessibility training (videos, PPTs, curriculum).
- Conduct accessibility audits across digital and print assessments in collaboration with Editorial and Operations teams.
