Job Description

Academic Mentor Top US & UK College Admissions (CS / Biology / Economics)

CollegePass works with academically strong, highly motivated students targeting top US and UK universities (Ivy League, Stanford, MIT, Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, UCL, etc.).

Our approach is academic-first. We focus on helping students develop:

  • Strong subject mastery
  • Clear intellectual direction
  • Meaningful academic projects and experiences
  • Coherent profiles that stand up to elite admissions scrutiny

We do not believe in rsum padding or formulaic profile building.

Our mentors are expected to think deeply, challenge students, and uphold high academic standards.

Role: We are hiring Academic Mentors in Computer Science, Biology, or Economics to work closely with high school students preparing for top US and UK undergraduate admissions.

This role combines:

  • Subject mentorship
  • Academic profile development
  • Admissions-aware guidance

You will help students grow intellectually and translate that growth into strong, authentic applications.

This is not a sales role and not a generic counselling position.

It is a thinking-intensive mentorship role suited for people who enjoy teaching, debating ideas, and guiding motivated students.

What you will do:

  • Mentor students (Grades 912) in CS, Biology, or Economics
  • Strengthen subject foundations and push students toward advanced academic engagement
  • Guide students in:
  • Research projects
  • Subject-specific competitions and Olympiads
  • Independent academic work and capstones

Admissions and Profile Development:

  • Help students align academic work with expectations of top US and UK universities
  • Advise on course rigor, academic choices, and long-term positioning
  • Work with the admissions team to ensure:
  • Intellectual depth is reflected clearly in applications
  • Essays and activities are grounded in real academic work
  • Help students develop clarity of thought, confidence, and academic maturity
  • Prevent rsum-driven or generic activities by maintaining high standards

Who is this role for?

You will enjoy and succeed in this role if you:

  • Care deeply about your subject
  • Like teaching or mentoring curious, high-performing students
  • Can distinguish excellent academic work from average work
  • Are interested in how academic excellence translates into top admissions outcomes

Qualifications:

  • Strong academic background in Computer Science, Biology, or Economics
  • Bachelors degree or higher from a recognized institution
  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, research, or academic guidance
  • Ability to explain complex ideas clearly and challenge students constructively

Preferred (but not mandatory):

  • Exposure to US/UK undergraduate admissions
  • Experience guiding students toward competitive universities, programs, or competitions

Why teachers and academics like this role:

  • You work with motivated, high-ability students
  • You focus on thinking and substance, not administrative teaching
  • You see direct impact of your mentorship on elite outcomes
  • Your subject expertise is respected and central to the role
