Job Description
As an Academic Associate at Jio Institute, you will work closely with distinguished resident faculty and globally accomplished visiting professors and industry practitioners to support the delivery of high-quality, rigorous academic programs. This role provides a strong platform for individuals seeking to build a career in academia, research, or advanced teaching practice.
You will play a critical role in course preparation and delivery, classroom coordination, assessment management, and student engagement. Responsibilities include supporting session execution, managing course materials and learning platforms, evaluating assignments and examinations, and ensuring a consistent and enriching academic experience for students.
Beyond classroom responsibilities, Jio Institute offers a structured professional development framework designed to strengthen academic capabilities. Academic Associates may enrol in one of two certification pathways under the Institutes Academic Professional Development Program (APDP):
- Teaching Excellence Track focused on pedagogy, classroom delivery, assessment design, and instructional effectiveness.
- Research Track focused on research methodology, academic writing, publication support, and faculty-led research collaboration.
This structured pathway is intended to prepare Academic Associates for future doctoral studies, research careers, or long-term academic roles.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Course Delivery & Academic Support
- Assist faculty in preparing course materials, session plans, case sets, practical exercises, and assessments.
- Support classroom instruction, including tutorials, labs, and discussion sessions.
- Manage Learning Management System (LMS) content, student submissions, and grading workflows.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments, projects, and examinations.
2. Student Mentoring & Engagement
- Conduct tutorials, help sessions, and doubt-clearing clinics.
- Mentor students to strengthen learning outcomes and academic performance.
- Address academic queries and maintain clear, professional communication with students.
3. Academic Administration & Coordination
- Track attendance, performance metrics, and documentation for internal reporting and audits.
- Coordinate with programme office and administrative teams to ensure seamless class operations.
- Maintain academic records, assessment outcomes, and student interactions in accordance with institute standards.
4. Professional Development
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and certification opportunities focused on teaching excellence and research capacity building.
- Engage in collaborative research projects with faculty where applicable, strengthening research acumen
This position is a fulltime employment at a fixed term contract for a tenure of 2 years, which can be extended by one year based on the Institute requirement and candidate performance. This can be further extended by one more year however the cumulative tenure shall not exceed a period of 4 years.
Educational Background:
- Masters degree in relevant discipline Computer Science, AI & Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Management (Marketing, Finance & Sports), Business Analytics, etc.
- Strong academic record.
- Candidates pursuing or holding a Ph.D. will be at an advantage
Preferred Competencies:
- Solid understanding of subject-area fundamentals.
- Experience with tools and systems relevant to course delivery (e.g., LMS platforms, analytics tools, programming languages).
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.
- Passion for teaching and student engagement.
