About Team:
Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

What you'll do:

1. Manage the software development team, including hiring, training, and conducting performance evaluations.

2. Oversee the design, development, and implementation of software applications across various platforms (iOS, Android, Web)

3. Supervise the development of the orchestration layer, backend systems ( Java) to ensure seamless integration and functionality.

4. Work closely with other teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

5. Maintain a high level of technical expertise and industry knowledge, staying up to date with the latest technologies and trends.

6. Develop project timelines, allocate resources effectively, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

7. Ensure software applications comply with quality standards and meet customer expectations.

8. Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team, fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement.

9. Collaborate with stakeholders, including product managers, designers, and other engineering teams, to deliver high-quality software solutions.

10. Mentorship: As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be expected to mentor your team, providing guidance, advice, and support to help them grow professionally.

11. Strategic Planning: You'll play a key role in strategic planning, establishing the direction and goals of the engineering department in alignment with the broader objectives of the organization.

12. Innovation: Your responsibility includes fostering an environment that promotes innovation, through continual exploration of ways to improve processes, products, and services.

13. Collaboration: You will be expected to cultivate a culture of collaboration, not only within your team, but also with other departments and stakeholders.

14. Quality Control: You will ensure that the products or services your team delivers meet the necessary quality standards.

15. Resource Allocation: You will manage resources efficiently, ensuring projects are completed within the allocated time and budget.

16. Risk Management: As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will identify and mitigate risks that could potentially impact project completion or product development.

17. Professional Development: You will be responsible for providing your team members with opportunities for continuous learning and professional development.

18. Conflict Resolution: You will mediate conflicts within the team and ensure a harmonious working environment.

19. Decision Making: You will make crucial decisions impacting the productivity and success of your team and the projects you undertake.

20. Performance Evaluation: Regular performance evaluations of team members, providing feedback, and identifying areas for improvement will be part of your role.

21. Compliance: You will ensure all engineering processes and operations adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards.

22. Change Management: You will effectively manage changes, whether related to project scope, team structure, or organization policies.

What you'll bring:

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology
2. Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the ecommerce industry.
3. Extensive knowledge of mobile application development (iOS, Android), web development, orchestration layer, and backend systems, CMS Tools
4. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and motivate a team.
5. Excellent project management skills, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
6. Strong problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to overcoming challenges.
7. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
8. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
9. Up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
10. Strong knowledge of M*N matrix management.
11. Ability to foster innovation and engineering excellence within a team.
12. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
13. Familiarity with ecommerce platforms is a plus.
