Job Title: WordPress Support Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and proactive WordPress Support Engineer to join our team during US business hours. In this role, you will be the go-to technical resource for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing a live, high-traffic production site.
You are a great fit if you love solving technical puzzles under pressure, possess deep WordPress expertise, and can confidently ship small-scale front-end and back-end updates quickly and reliably.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Support: Monitor, diagnose, and resolve technical issues on a live, high-traffic WordPress site, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Feature & Layout Tweaks: Implement front-end changes, style adjustments, and interactive elements using clean HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- API & Integration Management: Maintain and build out third-party service integrations using REST APIs and webhooks (specifically managing subscriptions and paywalls via Piano and Stripe).
- Task Scoping & Delivery: Autonomously scope, estimate, and execute small-to-medium development tasks with a fast turnaround time.
- Collaboration: Communicate clearly and reliably with stakeholders regarding issue status, technical blockers, and deployment timelines.
Required Technical Skills
- Deep WordPress Expertise: Strong, hands-on experience working with core WordPress architecture, custom themes, child themes, and PHP.
- Modern WordPress Tooling: Proven experience working with Custom Post Types (CPTs), the Block Editor (Gutenberg), and the WordPress REST API.
- Core Front-End Stack: Solid proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (including responsive design), and modern JavaScript.
- API Integration: Hands-on experience integrating third-party services via APIs and webhooks.
- Environment Familiarity: Comfort working in live, traffic-heavy production environments and using debugging tools to isolate issues safely.
Nice-to-Haves / Strong Pluses
- Direct experience integrating or troubleshooting Piano (audience/subscription platform).
- Direct experience with Stripe API and webhook handling for payment processing.
