What we are looking for

Role: WebSphere Application Server

Experience Range: 10 to 15 Years

Location: Chennai/Pune/Kolkata/Hyderabad/Bangalore

Must Have:

• Strong experience with IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS 8.5 / 9.x)
• Solid Java/J2EE application server concepts
• Experience in Linux/UNIX environments
• Hands-on with wsadmin scripting
• Knowledge of JVM tuning and log analysis
• Understanding of TCP/IP, ports, firewall concepts

Good to Have:

• Experience with IBM HTTP Server (IHS), WebSphere Plug-ins
• Knowledge of Docker/Kubernetes (especially for WAS traditional or Liberty)
• Experience with WebSphere Liberty Profile
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Ansible)
• Cloud exposure (AWS/Azure with WAS)

Essential:

WebSphere Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM WebSphere Application Server (Base/ND).
• Manage profiles, node agents, deployment managers (DMGR).
• Deploy and manage EAR/WAR/JAR applications.
• Configure clusters, vertical/horizontal scaling, and load balancing.
• Apply fix packs, patches, and version upgrades.

Application & Server Support

• Monitor WAS environments for availability and performance.
• Troubleshoot application, JVM, memory, garbage collection, and thread issues.
• Perform root cause analysis for incidents and outages.
• Work closely with development teams during application deployment and testing.

Performance & Security

• Tune JVM parameters, heap sizes, GC policies.
• Configure security realms, LDAP integration, SSL certificates.
• Implement authentication and authorization policies.
• Ensure compliance with enterprise security standards.

Automation & Scripting

• Use wsadmin (Jython/Jacl) for automation.
• Support CI/CD pipelines for application deployment.
• Work with shell scripts for environment management.

Documentation & Operations

• Maintain SOPs, deployment guides, and runbooks.
• Participate in on-call support and scheduled maintenance.
• Support DR and backup/restoration activities.

Minimum Qualification:

• 15 years of full-time education
• Minimum percentile of 50% in 10th, 12th, UG & PG (if applicable)
