Job Description

Position: VMware NSX Engineer

Location: Mumbai (Should be ready to travel across India)

Employment Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Experience Required: 3-5 Years (or as per requirement)


About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced VMware NSX Administrator/Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize our VMware NSX environment. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in VMware NSX-T, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), network virtualization, micro-segmentation, security policies, and advanced troubleshooting. The role involves ensuring high availability, security, performance, and seamless operations of the organization's virtual networking infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Administer, manage, and support VMware NSX environments to ensure stable and secure operations.
  2. Deploy, configure, and optimize NSX Management Clusters and NSX Edge Nodes.
  3. Design and implement NSX logical networking components, including overlays, segments, transport zones, and logical switches.
  4. Configure and manage Tier-0 and Tier-1 Gateways for North-South and East-West traffic routing.
  5. Implement and maintain Distributed Firewall (DFW) and Gateway Firewall policies.
  6. Design and operate micro-segmentation policies using dynamic groups and security policies.
  7. Configure and manage NSX Load Balancing services for application delivery.
  8. Configure network services on NSX Edge Nodes, including routing and security services.
  9. Integrate and manage NSX within VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments.
  10. Configure LDAP/Identity Management integrations and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC).
  11. Implement and manage NSX Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP) features, including IDS/IPS.
  12. Perform NSX lifecycle management activities, including upgrades, patching, version compatibility checks, and maintenance planning.
  13. Monitor system health, performance, and capacity utilization.
  14. Troubleshoot complex networking, security, and performance-related issues using tools such as Traceflow, logs, and health checks.
  15. Develop and maintain operational procedures, technical documentation, and best practices.
  16. Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to support business requirements.
  17. Proactively identify risks, recommend improvements, and implement optimization initiatives.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of VMware NSX architecture, including Management, Control, and Data Planes.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware NSX-T deployment, administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) and NSX integration.
  • Expertise in NSX Logical Networking, Segments, Overlays, and Transport Zones.
  • Experience with Tier-0/Tier-1 Gateways and Logical Routing.
  • Hands-on experience with Distributed Firewall (DFW) and Gateway Firewall configurations.
  • Strong understanding of Micro-Segmentation and Zero Trust networking principles.
  • Experience with NSX Load Balancer configuration and management.
  • Knowledge of NSX Advanced Threat Prevention (ATP), IDS/IPS, and network security controls.
  • Experience with LDAP/Active Directory integration and RBAC implementation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills using Traceflow, packet captures, logs, and monitoring tools.
  • Experience in NSX upgrades, patch management, and lifecycle operations.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • VMware certifications such as VCP-NV, VCAP-NV, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in enterprise or large-scale data center environments.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies including VMware vSphere and vCenter.
  • Understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VXLAN, and routing concepts.


Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant VMware certifications will be an added advantage.
