Greetings from ThoughtFocus,
We are seeking a detail-oriented Valuation Analyst/Associate to support valuation of private market investments, including private equity, private credit, and hybrid securities.
Key Responsibilities
Valuation Modeling
- Build, maintain, and update valuation models for:
- Private credit instruments (direct loans, syndicated loans, distressed debt, structured credit)
- Private equity investments across stages, industries, and capital structures
- Hybrid securities (convertible debt, preferred equity, mezzanine, warrants)
- Apply valuation methodologies such as:
- DCF (Discounted Cash Flow)
- Market multiples & precedent transactions
- Yield analysis & option pricing models
- Perform scenario analysis and sensitivity testing
- Analyze investment performance and valuation assumptions
Valuation Governance & Controls
- Ensure valuation models are accurate, documented, and compliant with policies
- Support quarterly and annual valuation cycles
- Validate key assumptions, market inputs, and model outputs
- Maintain audit trails and documentation for regulatory and audit reviews
- Stay updated on valuation best practices and regulatory changes
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with investment teams, fund accounting, auditors, and external valuation advisors
- Support responses to auditor, investor, and regulatory queries
- Prepare valuation reports, presentations, and supporting analysis
Technical Skills
- Strong financial modeling & valuation expertise
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Knowledge of:
- DCF, comparable analysis, precedent transactions
- Yield curve analysis, option pricing models
- Experience with tools like:
- Capital IQ, PitchBook, Bloomberg, Refinitiv (preferred)
- Strong understanding of financial statements and investment structures
