Job Description
Role Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Test Engineer with deep system level thinking who can own end-to-end testing of an industrial autonomous solution. The ideal candidate understands how software, hardware, controls, analytics, and field equipment interact in real operational environments and can validate not just individual components, but complete autonomous workflows under normal, degraded, and failure conditions.
You will play a critical role in ensuring the solution is safe, reliable, deterministic, performant, and field ready, particularly for mission critical oil & gas operations where failures can have safety, environmental, and financial consequences.
Key Responsibilities:
Define and own end to end test strategy for the Autonomous Well Operations platform.
Perform system, integration, regression, and acceptance testing across edge, cloud (if applicable), control, and UI layers.
Validate autonomous use cases such as:
Autonomous well testing workflows
Virtual flow metering accuracy and fallback behavior
Closed loop choke control stability and safety
Chemical injection optimization and safeguards
Test interactions with field devices (pressure, flow, temperature sensors, valves, actuators).
Validate integration with SCADA, PLCs, DCS, historians, and control networks.
Design and execute failure mode and edge case testing.
Verify real time performance, latency, determinism, and resource usage on edge hardware.
Create product performance standards, test plans, test cases, and develop test environments to ensure product software meets industry and internal specifications.
Work closely with product controls, data science, and embedded teams to root cause issues.
Candidate will be responsible for the overall System level Test Coverage and reduction in Post Release defects to the Customer/End User.
Candidate will be responsible for On-time delivery of project/group objectives and influences project level productivity.
Ensure test results meet industrial safety, reliability, and operational standards.
Complies with Honeywell policies, procedures, and HS&E requirements as applicable.
You Must Have:
Bachelors or masters degree in Electronics/Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering.
5 years of experience testing industrial, embedded, or control centric systems.
Proven experience with system level or end to end testing
Strong understanding of industrial automation and control systems
Willingness to engage with field deployments and operational environments
Skills Requirement:
Core technical skill with End to End System Testing
Integration Testing across hardware, software, and analytics layers
Test Case Design for Autonomous / Closed loop Systems
Failure Mode & Effects Testing (FMEA oriented mindset)
Edge Computing Platforms (Industrial PCs, gateways, embedded Linux systems)
Knowledge of Oil & Gas production operations (wells, surface equipment)
Understanding of low, pressure, temperature instrumentation, Control valves, chokes, actuators etc.
Familiarity with Autonomous or Advanced Control concepts
Experience with different industrial communication protocols such as OPC-UA, Modbus, DNP3, MQTT, Ethernet/IP etc.
Hands-on experience with SCADA/PLC/DCS system and their components.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
