Technical Manager – QA & Solutions Engineering

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-onTechnical Manager QA & Product Validationto lead quality engineering and technical validation for an enterprise infrastructure software product. This senior, hands-on leadership role focuses on QA automation, release validation, and customer issue resolution across storage, backup, disaster recovery, migration, and cloud orchestration domains.

The ideal candidate brings strong domain expertise, solid scripting and automation skills (Python, Shell, Terraform), and proven experience managing QA teams that own end-to-end product validation. This isnota pure DevOps, SRE, developer, or manual/UI testing role.

Experience:10+ years in QA / product validation, with 35 years in team management at an enterprise software or infrastructure product company.

Education:Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Key Requirements

Mandatory:

• 10+ years in QA / product validation at enterprise software or infrastructure companies, with 3+ years managing QA teams.
• Strong hands-on expertise inQA automation and test framework development(not manual/UI-only).
• Proficient inPython and Shell scripting; hands-on withTerraform.
• SolidLinuxtroubleshooting, debugging, and log analysis skills.
• Proven experience withcustomer escalations, issue reproduction, and release validation.
• Domain exposure inat least oneof: storage, cloud orchestration, backup, DR, migration, or replication.
• Hands-on withAWS, Azure, GCP, or OCIand hybrid/multi-cloud deployments.
• Proven team management experience hiring, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration.

Good to Have:

• Experience withKubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, or managed cloud platforms.
• CI/CDexperience (Jenkins or equivalent).
• Familiarity withRobot Framework, Ansible, or REST/API automation.
• Background from companies like Veritas, Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik, Cohesity, Nutanix, Trilio, Kasten, Zerto, Druva, NetApp, Pure Storage, VMware / Dell EMC, or the Red Hat / OpenShift ecosystem.
• Exposure to virtualization (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V) and software-defined storage.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of QA / validation engineers owning end-to-end product validation.
• Own the QA automation strategy and framework design, including test suites in Python, Shell, and Terraform.
• Drive release validation cycles test plans, coverage goals, exit criteria, and release sign-off.
• Partner with support and engineering on escalations, customer issue reproduction, RCA, and hotfix validation.
• Validate product behavior across storage, cloud orchestration, backup, DR, replication, and migration scenarios.
• Set up and manage test environments across on-prem, public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI), and hybrid/multi-cloud.
• Track quality KPIs defect leakage, automation coverage, escape rate, MTTR and continuously improve them.
• Contribute hands-on to debugging, log analysis, and reproducing complex customer-reported issues.
• Drive CI/CD adoption and shift-left quality practices across the product lifecycle.
• Hire, grow, and retain a high-performing QA engineering team.
