Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, build and implement database systems in both on premise and cloud based environments in coordination with IT Infrastructure & Operations and Application teams.
  • Provide enterprise-wide second level / Subject Matter Expert support for all MS SQL and Oracle database instances.
  • Leverage, maintain and optimize database monitoring platform.
  • Monitor database instances including availability, capacity and performance and address any deviations from standard operating parameters proactively.
  • Optimize configuration and performance of database products according to vendor best practices.
  • Implement changes and apply patches and version upgrades. Perform research and maintain working knowledge of vendor requirements and compatibility / security issues.
  • Coordinate database maintenance tasks with Field Support, application owners and business customers / users avoiding any impact to business operations.
  • Consolidate and migrate existing database instances to centralized environment / regional clusters.
  • Determine, document and enforce database policies, procedures and global standards.
  • Coordinate work with IT Architecture group and participate in IT systems implementation projects.
  • Monitor and maintain database security and access permissions in accordance with relevant global IT policies.
  • Setup and monitor database backups on a day-to-day basis using companys standard backup systems.
  • Follow ITIL processes and process / document work in IT Service Management system.

Desired Skills and Qualifications


Education Level:

Min. Bachelor degree in Computer Science

Professional Registrations and Certifications:

Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle DBA Certification is desirable; SAP HANA certification is a plus.

Language Requirements:

Business fluent English; German or Brazilian Portuguese is a plus.


Experience

Years of Experience:

Min. 5 years experience in comparable enterprise level Database Administration roles of a global multinational Manufacturing company.

  • Proven working experience as a Database Administrator with SQL and Oracle products.
  • Operating knowledge of SAP HANA database deployments.
  • Excellent knowledge of database backup, recovery, security and integrity.
  • Experience with SQL / database deployments in cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems and Active Directory.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux OS based database deployments.
  • Writing design, system and business documentation.
  • Design and operation of high-availability environments incl. clustering, etc.
  • Administration of virtualization platforms incl. VMWare and others.

Working Conditions

  • Travel Frequency: Very limited; might be required for project assignments.
