Job Description
Position Overview
As an Swim Teacher, you will be responsible for developing & implementing the swimming programs, and providing instructions and coaching to customers.
Key responsibilities
- Teach swimming techniques and water safety to individuals or groups, ranging from beginners to advanced swimmers.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to varying skill levels and ages.
- Break down complex swimming strokes into manageable steps for beginners, gradually increasing difficulty as students progress.
- Provide clear demonstrations and correct students' techniques to help them improve.
- Ensure the safety of all students during swim lessons by adhering to pool safety guidelines.
- Monitor swimmers closely and respond quickly to any signs of distress or unsafe behavior.
- Conduct safety briefings and educate swimmers on proper pool conduct and water safety protocols.
- Be prepared to perform rescues in the event of an emergency and administer first aid or CPR if necessary.
- Plan and organize swim lessons that are fun, engaging, and effective.
- Structure classes to gradually build skills and confidence in the water.
- Ensure lessons are age-appropriate and cater to the needs of individual swimmers within group lessons.
- Assess and track the progress of each swimmer and adjust lessons accordingly.
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to help students develop confidence and improve their abilities.
- Communicate progress reports to students or parents, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
- Manage group dynamics in the water, ensuring all swimmers receive attention and instruction.
- Maintain discipline and ensure a positive, respectful environment in the pool.
- Encourage teamwork and good sportsmanship during group lessons.
- Ensure that all swimming equipment, such as kickboards, flotation devices, and lane markers, are in good condition and set up for lessons.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pool area and storage spaces.
- Regularly communicate with parents regarding their childs progress, achievements, and areas needing improvement.
- Offer guidance on how parents can support their child's learning and water confidence outside of lessons.
- Stay updated on the latest swimming techniques, teaching methods, and water safety standards.
- Attend training sessions or workshops to enhance teaching skills and certifications.
- Represent the organization professionally, promoting its values and maintaining its high standards of instruction.
- Engage with students and parents to ensure a positive experience and maintain a good reputation for the swim program.
