About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Supply Chain Engineer to join our team at VyomIC, where we are building the next-generation Global LEO-PNT (Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) satellite constellation from India. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing procurement, sourcing, inventory, and the supplier ecosystem that support the development and deployment of our spacecraft and ground infrastructure. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams to ensure the timely availability of critical hardware, components, and services, helping establish a resilient and scalable supply chain for one of India's most ambitious space technology programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize supply chain and procurement activities for spacecraft, payload, avionics, RF, power, mechanical, ground-segment hardware, and testing services.
- Support project execution through timely procurement and delivery of materials, components, and services in alignment with project schedules.
- Manage and research about import licenses and other certifications.
- Research, evaluate, qualify, and manage suppliers, while maintaining approved vendor databases and strong vendor relationships and redundant supply chain.
- Prepare and manage RFQs, BOMs, RFPs, purchase orders, and procurement documentation.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to understand technical requirements, evaluate alternate components, and proactively plan for future procurement needs and develop the risk management strategy
- Manage inventory, monitor component availability and obsolescence risks, and ensure the availability of critical materials. Risk management strategy
- Maintain procurement records, inventory data, material status reports, and supply chain dashboards/KPIs.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of ERP/MRP and inventory management processes.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, AIT, and program management teams to ensure smooth material flow throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with space and MIL-grade supply chain standards, quality requirements, and applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies, products, and industry developments to support strategic sourcing and procurement decisions.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 2 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, sourcing, manufacturing operations, vendor development, or related functions.
- Experience in space-tech, aerospace, defense, electronics or deep technology manufacturing environments is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Understanding of procurement processes, vendor management, and inventory planning.
- Ability to understand schematic layouts, technical specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and inventory management tools.
- Relevant experience with industry standard tools for creating dashboards is a plus.
- Knowledge of electronics, PCB assemblies, RF hardware, or aerospace components is desirable.
