The Chevron Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center (ENGINE) in Bengaluru India brings together the resources and expertise of the Chevron global network with talent in India to enhance agility and technological innovation to optimize solutions for the worlds current and future energy challenges. As one of the leading energy providers worldwide, Chevron is involved in the production of crude oil and natural gas, manufacturing of transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals, and additives, and the development of enabling technologies.

Chevron's vision is to be the global energy company most admired for its people, partnerships, and performance. With a clear purpose to develop affordable, reliable, ever-cleaner energy that enables human progress, we believe human ingenuity has the power to solve any challenge and overcome any obstacle. Meeting the worlds growing energy needs requires the pursuit of innovations and advancements that deliver a better future for all.

About the Position

The Senior Production Engineer Offshore is responsible for ensuring offshore wells and facilities operate safely, reliably, and at optimal performance. This role leads production surveillance, data quality assurance, and performance diagnostics, translating insights into actionable optimization and reliability improvements. Working within ENGINE, the Senior Production Engineer partners closely with global Offshore Operations, Regional Production Engineering, Asset Development (AD), and Subsurface teams to deliver high-quality surveillance products (dashboards, well and facility performance assessments, exception analyses) and to drive short cycle optimization, troubleshooting, and production improvement initiatives.

With 1015 years of experience, the role is expected to independently execute and continuously improve surveillance and data workflows, diagnose complex well and facility performance issues, and recommend technically sound solutions. The Senior Production Engineer serves as a technical authority for production performance, mentors early career engineers, and proactively escalates and influences resolution of high impact risks and opportunities across the asset.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the technical lead for offshore production engineering, setting priorities and driving work that improves production, reliability, and integrity across the asset life cycle.

Lead advanced production surveillance for complex offshore systems (subsea wells, platforms, and facilities) by establishing surveillance plans, tracking KPI performance and production losses, and regularly communicating insights and recommendations to regional production engineering and asset teams.

Evaluate and support well stimulation programs (e.g., acid treatments) by defining candidate selection criteria, maintaining candidate lists and productivity index tracking, supporting job design and execution reviews, and completing post job performance assessments with documented learnings.

Perform and steward Pressure Transient Analysis (PTA) and Rate Transient Analysis (RTA) to diagnose well/reservoir performance, quantify deliverability and skin impacts, and translate results into recommendations and model updates using automation and analytics tools (e.g., SA&O tool suite, Kappa Automate).

Build, calibrate, and maintain integrated well, network, and facility models to identify constraints, test operating scenarios, optimize production targets, and support operational and investment decisions.

Compile and interpret waterflood surveillance data (injection and production trends, pattern response, and sweep indicators) and translate findings into field level and well level optimization recommendations and follow up actions.

Partner with Asset Development (AD) in Offshore Regions, and subsurface teams to standardize production engineering workflows, align on technical decision criteria, and share lessons learned and best practices across assets.

Coach and mentor ENGINE production engineers through technical reviews, problem-solving support, and development of reusable templates and guidance to strengthen analytical capability.

Ensure work complies with safety, operational integrity, and environmental requirements by following approved procedures, participating in risk assessments, and supporting Management of Change (MOC) and integrity processes as required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Masters degree in Petroleum Engineering or another engineering discipline, preferred.

10+ years of experience in production engineering.

Demonstrated experience executing production surveillance, well optimization, and system diagnostics for producing assets.

Working knowledge of well stimulation design and evaluation (screening candidates, selecting treatment types, and interpreting post treatment response).

Demonstrated knowledge in Pressure Transient Analysis (PTA) and Rate Transient Analysis (RTA) is a plus, including interpretation and translation of results into actionable recommendations.

Demonstrated knowledge of well productivity analysis under flowing conditions (e.g., nodal analysis, IPR/VLP concepts, and operating envelope impacts).

Selection Criteria 1

PE Functional Knowledge: Demonstrates applied production engineering skills (surveillance, analysis, and optimization (SA&O)). Able to design and run surveillance programs, interpret reservoir and well performance data, and convert findings into clear recommendations. Hands-on experience using common production engineering tools/workflows (e.g., OFM, Kappa tool suite, IPM). Proven experience in well performance management and rate/pressure transient analysis.

Selection Criteria 2

Project Management: Proven collaborator who can plan and deliver work with cross-functional teams. Experienced managing an enterprise-wide tool suite and operating in roles spanning project manager through application support. Able to create and execute project/development plans (scope, schedule, stakeholders, and adoption), using business and technical understanding to remove blockers and drive decisions.

Selection Criteria 3

Technical Digital: Demonstrated capability to use programming and data tools to automate workflows, improve data quality, and accelerate analysis (e.g., scripting, data manipulation, and repeatable analytics). Fluent in one or more programming languages. Familiarity with Scaled Agile delivery is a plus.

Selection Criteria 4
