Job Description- Senior Costing Executive/Sr. Associate Costing

Role Summary

The Senior Costing Executive responsibilities:

1. End-to-end product costing
2. Variance analysis
3. Product Profitability commentary
4. Ensuring accurate cost structures across production and new projects

Key Responsibilities

1. Product & Standard Costing

• Maintain standard cost in SAP (BOM, routing, activity rates)
• Perform monthly cost roll-ups and validations
• Ensure correctness of material, labour, and overhead costs

2. Manufacturing Cost Control

• Analyse:
• Production variances (usage, rate, mix)
• Purchase price variance (PPV)
• Work with plant team to identify root causes & corrective actions

3. Profitability & COPA Analysis

• Prepare COPA / product-wise margin analysis
• Analyse:
• Selling price vs cost vs mix impact
• Support controlling in margin improvement initiatives

4. RFQ & New Project Costing

• Validate RFQ cost estimates
• Perform cost breakdown (material, process, cycle time)
• Ensure target margins are achieved

5. Inventory & Financial Controls

• Inventory valuation (actual cost variants) & provisions (aged/obsolete stock)
• Ensure correct absorption costing
• Support audits and internal controls

6. Cross-functional Coordination

• Work with:
• Operations: To get the erroneous production orders corrected
• Procurement: To validate the purchase price variances
• Engineering: To get the erroneous BOM and routing corrected
• Sales: To validate realization
• Support cost reduction and productivity initiatives validation

Qualifications & Skills

• CMA (ICWA)/ CMA Inter
• 5+ years in automotive costing, relevant 3+ yrs in Cost Accounting
• Strong in:
• SAP (CO, MM, PP)
• Excel (advanced)
• BOM & routing understanding
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (stamping, moulding, etc.)
