Role Overview

The Solar Project Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of solar energy projects, ranging from small-scale installations to large utility-scale solar power plants. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise and project management capabilities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Project Planning & Design

Conduct site assessments and analyze solar resource data for project feasibility

Design solar PV systems including layout, electrical configurations, and grid integration

Perform quality checks of engineering designs and technical drawings

Assist in preliminary design budgeting and cost estimation

Execution & Project Management

Manage day-to-day project activities and site operations

Develop and maintain project schedules, milestones, and deliverables

Lead site teams and provide engineering guidance during installation

Monitor site progress, conduct inspections, and ensure timely reporting

Oversee commissioning, testing, and performance validation

Technical & Engineering

Select appropriate equipment (solar panels, inverters, transformers, mounting structures)

Handle AC-side systems including 33kV / 11kV / 132kV transmission lines (preferred expertise)

Provide technical support during installation, operation, and maintenance phases

Troubleshoot and resolve technical/design issues during the project lifecycle

Coordination & Compliance

Liaise with clients, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders

Coordinate with local authorities for permits, approvals, and compliance

Ensure adherence to safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices

Support tendering processes, contract management, and procurement activities

Reporting & Documentation

Maintain detailed project documentation and records

Prepare progress reports and status updates for management and clients

Manage project databases and compliance records

Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Electrical or Renewable Energy

Proven experience in solar or renewable energy project execution

Strong knowledge of EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) processes

Proficiency in tools like AutoCAD, PVsyst, or similar design software

Good understanding of electrical systems, grid integration, and inverter technologies

Experience with AC-side systems (33kV / 11kV / 132kV transmission lines) will be preferred

Familiarity with Indian renewable energy regulations and permitting processes
