Solar Engineer PV Design

This is a full-time remote position for a Solar CAD Designer & Single Line Diagram (SLD) Specialist.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing site assessment photos, preparing and coordinating solar design submissions through Solargraf, and ensuring all system designs meet company standards and code requirements.

This role requires strong expertise in electrical design and single line diagrams, along with the ability to review, revise, and quality-check solar plans efficiently.

• Review site survey photos and field data to determine design feasibility
• Submit and manage solar system designs via Solargraf
• Review completed designs and request revisions/optimizations as needed
• Create and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and electrical layouts
• Ensure designs comply with AHJ requirements, NEC codes, and utility standards
• Coordinate with internal teams to finalize permit-ready plan sets

• Prepare utility interconnection applications for internal review
• Ensure accuracy of system sizing, electrical configuration, and documentation
• Support troubleshooting of design-related issues

• Assist in proposal creation (Solargraf)
• Perform quality control checks based on installation photos
• Verify installations align with approved designs and plans

• Strong experience with solar PV system design and layout
• Solid understanding of electrical systems and Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
• Familiarity with NEC codes, AHJ requirements, and utility interconnection processes
• Experience with Solargraf (preferred) or similar platforms
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent design tools
• Ability to interpret site photos, roof layouts, and field conditions
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment

• Experience working with U.S. solar permitting and utilities (especially California)
• Knowledge of Enphase, Tesla, or similar systems
• Familiarity with proposal tools and production modeling
• NABCEP certification (preferred but not required)
