Software Engineer – Platform & Services
About the Role
We are seeking a highly capable Software Engineer – Platform & Services to design, build, and optimize data‑as‑a‑service capabilities within our Digital Manufacturing & Supply Chain Platform.
In this role, you will focus on delivering secure, scalable, and high‑performance APIs and microservices that expose curated data from enterprise systems, IoT devices, and analytical models to various consumers—including applications, dashboards, and simulation environments.
You will work closely with Data Engineering and platform teams to transform raw and processed datasets into reliable, observable, and production‑ready services, enabling real‑time insights, predictive analytics, and digital twin workflows.
This is a Grade 22 individual contributor role, emphasizing hands‑on engineering excellence and platform development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance REST/gRPC APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and event‑driven microservices for real‑time and batch data consumption.
- Implement service‑oriented components that expose curated datasets from enterprise systems and IoT platforms.
- Partner with Data Engineering to understand data pipelines, data contracts, and governance requirements.
- Implement security controls including authentication, authorization, and role‑based access mechanisms.
- Optimize microservices for scalability, high availability, and low‑latency performance, supporting use cases like predictive maintenance and dynamic scheduling.
- Contribute to API lifecycle management—including versioning, monitoring, observability, and documentation.
- Deploy and manage services using Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud‑native platforms (AWS/Azure).
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure‑as‑code templates, and automated deployment workflows.
- Collaborate with architects and product teams to ensure service designs align with platform strategy.
- Follow best practices for code quality, testing, DevOps automation, and platform security.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong hands‑on experience with API development (REST, gRPC, GraphQL).
- Solid knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java with Spring Boot, Python
- Practical experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure) and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with messaging systems like Kafka or Event Hubs.
- Experience developing and operating CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions)and cloud‑native deployments.
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with API gateways, developer portals, and usage analytics.
- Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, and enterprise‑grade security standards.
- Familiarity with data virtualization, semantic layers, or enterprise analytics platforms.
- Experience using observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.
- Understanding of data integration patterns and orchestration frameworks.
- Exposure to OpenUSD or Omniverse for simulation‑driven data services.
- Participation in open‑source projects or publications in platform engineering or Industry 4.0 domains.
- Experienced in using AI agents to accelerate API and Platform Services development
