We are supporting a global enterprise technology program seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support and enhance legacy trading applications within a critical energy trading platform.

This role focuses on maintaining and improving legacy systems built on COBOL and PL/SQL, ensuring operational stability, resolving issues, and supporting enhancements across enterprise trading platforms.

The selected consultant will work within a global technology team responsible for supporting critical business systems used across the trading organization.

Job Overview

The Software Engineer will contribute to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of legacy applications supporting trading operations.

The role includes supporting production environments, identifying and resolving application issues, and implementing improvements to ensure reliability and performance of critical trading systems.

Key Responsibilities

Support and maintain legacy applications built using COBOL and PL/SQL

Troubleshoot application issues and resolve software defects

Provide L1, L2, and L3 support for business-critical trading systems

Implement enhancements and improvements to existing applications

Analyse system functionality and recommend solutions for performance and stability

Collaborate with engineering and support teams to resolve operational issues

Participate in testing and validation of application fixes and enhancements

Ensure stability and reliability of production systems supporting trading operations

Required Experience

610 years of software development or application support experience

Strong experience working with COBOL-based applications

Experience with PL/SQL and relational databases

Experience supporting legacy enterprise applications

Strong troubleshooting and debugging capabilities

Experience working in production support environments

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience

Experience supporting trading or financial systems

Experience working with energy trading or commodity trading platforms

Experience supporting enterprise production systems

Familiarity with Agile or structured software delivery environments
