Software Development Engineer III

Position Summary:

This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance modules within F5’s TMOS (Traffic Management Operating System) platform. You will work on core networking and security features, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance across distributed systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and implement major components of TMOS-based features and enhancements.
• Develop and optimise software for high-performance traffic management and application delivery.
• Research and integrate new technologies to improve TMOS capabilities.
• Evaluate and tune performance of existing modules; re-architect where necessary.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (SRE, QA, Product Management) to deliver roadmap initiatives.
• Document designs and participate in technical reviews.
• Uphold F5’s Business Code of Ethics and promptly report violations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming with hands-on experience in systems-level development.
• Solid understanding of TMOS architecture, Linux internals, and networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS).
• Experience with performance tuning, debugging, and troubleshooting in complex environments.
• Familiarity with Git, build systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Exposure to DPDK, OpenSSL, and multi-threaded programming is a plus.
• Ability to manage ambiguity and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software development with C/C++ in networking or systems domain.
• Prior experience with TMOS or similar traffic management platforms preferred.
• Knowledge of security concepts and application delivery technologies is desirable.
