Job Description
The ServiceNow Data Migration Consultant is responsible for planning, designing, and executing data migration activities from legacy systems into the ServiceNow platform. This role ensures high data quality, integrity, and compliance while supporting enterprise transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Data Migration Execution
- Lead end-to-end data migration into ServiceNow
- Extract data from legacy systems (ERP, CRM, databases, spreadsheets)
- Design and execute ETL processes (Extract, Transform, Load)
- Use ServiceNow tools:
- Import Sets
- Transform Maps
- Data Sources
Data Analysis & Mapping
- Analyze source system data structures
- Create:
- Data mapping documents
- Transformation rules
- Define data standards and business rules
Data Cleansing & Validation
- Perform:
- Data profiling
- Data cleansing
- Deduplication
- Validate migrated data using reconciliation techniques
- Ensure data integrity and consistency
CMDB Data Migration
- Migrate Configuration Items (CIs) into CMDB
- Define:
- CI classes
- Relationships
- Ensure alignment with ServiceNow Common Service Data Model (CSDM)
Migration Strategy & Planning
- Define migration approach:
- Big Bang
- Phased rollout
- Parallel migration
- Support cutover planning and deployment
Testing & Deployment
- Perform:
- Unit testing
- System Integration Testing (SIT)
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Support production migration and hypercare
Required Skills
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- ServiceNow Import Sets & Transform Maps
- Data migration tools and ETL concepts
- Knowledge of:
- SQL, data modeling
- JSON, XML
- Experience with data quality tools and techniques
Functional Skills
- Data governance and data quality management
- CMDB and ITOM understanding
- Business data analysis
Experience
- 5+ years in data migration projects
- Experience in large-scale enterprise migrations
- Exposure to ServiceNow implementations
Certifications (Preferred)
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
- ServiceNow Implementation Specialist (CIS)
