Role Overview
We're hiring an in-house SEO Executive to own end-to-end SEO delivery across our client portfolio. You'll handle the full scope of work that agencies typically outsource strategy, on-page, off-page, technical, link building, AI search optimisation, audits, and reporting across an unlimited number of client projects and keywords. Blog writing sits with our copywriting team; you'll brief them on SEO requirements and review the final output for optimisation. This is a hands-on, execution-heavy role for someone who wants to take full ownership of organic growth across diverse brand categories.
Key Responsibilities
1. SEO Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement comprehensive SEO strategies for multiple client accounts simultaneously, with no cap on the number of projects or keywords managed
- Conduct in-depth keyword research to identify high-value opportunities for organic traffic growth, including primary, secondary, long-tail, and intent-based keywords
- Build keyword maps, content briefs, and SEO roadmaps aligned with each client's business objectives
- Evaluate competitor digital marketing strategies and develop action plans to outperform them
2. On-Page Optimisation
- Perform on-page SEO including title tags, meta descriptions, header structure, internal linking, image optimisation, schema markup, and URL structure
- Optimise existing website content and landing pages for target keywords and search intent
- Brief copywriters on SEO requirements for blogs and website content, and review their drafts to ensure on-page best practices are met before publishing
- Implement on-page changes directly within CMS platforms (WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, etc.)
3. Off-Page Optimisation & Link Building
- Develop and execute link-building strategies to acquire high-quality backlinks from authoritative websites
- Manage outreach, guest posting, digital PR placements, directory submissions, and partnership-based link acquisition
- Monitor and disavow toxic backlinks; maintain a healthy backlink profile for each client
- Track domain authority, referring domains, and anchor text distribution
4. Technical SEO & Website Health
- Identify and resolve technical SEO issues including crawl errors, duplicate content, broken links, redirect chains, canonical issues, and site speed
- Ensure proper indexing, XML sitemaps, robots.txt configuration, mobile-friendliness, Core Web Vitals, and overall website health
- Implement structured data (schema.org) and rich snippet optimisations
- Work closely with developers to brief, prioritise, and QA technical fixes
- Conduct migration planning and execution for client website redesigns or replatforming
5. AI Search & Generative Optimisation
- Optimise content for AI-driven search experiences including generative search (Google AI Overviews, SGE), conversational queries, and zero-click results
- Execute AI indexing strategies to get client websites surfaced in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and other LLM-based search results
- Apply semantic SEO, entity-based optimisation, and structured data for AI discoverability
- Leverage AI tools to enhance SEO workflows, content briefs, and analysis efficiency
- Stay current on evolving AI search behaviour and algorithm updates
6. Performance Tracking, Reporting & Analytics
- Monitor and analyse website performance using Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and other platforms
- Track key SEO metrics including organic traffic, keyword rankings, CTR, impressions, conversions, bounce rate, and revenue impact
- Build and present monthly performance reports with clear insights and next-step recommendations for both internal teams and clients
- Set up and maintain SEO dashboards (Looker Studio or similar) for real-time client visibility
7. SEO Audits & Continuous Improvement
- Perform detailed SEO audits (technical, on-page, off-page, content) for new client onboarding and ongoing accounts
- Present findings with clear, prioritised recommendations and execution timelines
- Stay up-to-date with the latest SEO trends, Google algorithm updates, and industry best practices
8. Competitive Analysis & Growth Opportunities
- Conduct ongoing competitor analysis to identify content gaps, keyword opportunities, and backlink
prospects
- Translate insights into actionable strategies to improve rankings and visibility
9. Collaboration & Execution
- Collaborate with copywriters, content creators, designers, and developers to implement SEO best practices across all digital assets
- Ensure SEO alignment across paid campaigns, landing pages, and ongoing client projects
- Coordinate with account managers to align SEO deliverables with overall client strategy and timelines
Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of proven SEO experience, mandatorily within a creative, marketing, or digital agency environment
- Hands-on experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously
- Demonstrated expertise across on-page, off-page, and technical SEO
- Proficiency in SEO tools: Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, Screaming Frog, Ubersuggest, Surfer SEO, or equivalents
- Working knowledge of AI search optimisation and tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Claude for SEO workflows
- Strong understanding of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and E-E-A-T principles
- Hands-on familiarity with WordPress and other CMS platforms (Shopify, Webflow, Wix)
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript to communicate effectively with developers
- Experience with structured data, schema markup, and Core Web Vitals optimisation
- Excellent communication, client-facing, and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage timelines, prioritise across multiple accounts, and work independently
Nice to Have
- Experience with local SEO and Google Business Profile optimisation
- Exposure to e-commerce SEO (product pages, category pages, faceted navigation)
- Basic understanding of conversion rate optimisation (CRO)
- Google Analytics and Google Ads certifications
