Role Objective

Take complete ownership of Velichams technology platform ensuring it works reliably, scales efficiently, aligns with business needs, and continuously evolves through the practical adoption of AI across development, internal tools, and business workflows.

Key Responsibilities

1. End-to-End System Ownership

• Own LOS, LMS, and reporting systems
• Understand the current architecture and improve it
• Ensure system stability, performance, and scalability
• Work closely with business teams
• Convert requirements into: Technical design, Task breakdown & Execution plan

2. Hands-on Backend Development (4060%)

• Write and maintain backend code (Ruby on Rails preferred)
• Build and improve existing codes
• Fix real production issues (not just theoretical work)

3. AI Adoption & Internal Tooling

• Drive practical adoption of AI across the technology function and broader business workflows
• Use AI tools to improve development speed, debugging, documentation, and testing
• Identify opportunities to insert AI into different stages of the platform and operations, including internal tools, support workflows, reporting, and business processes

4. Fix & Build Reporting Systems (Top Priority)

• Design clean data structures and reporting layers
• Ensure accuracy of reports
• Eliminate data inconsistencies and patchwork solutions

5. Own Vendor Output (Critical)

• Break tasks for external developers
• Validate estimates and timelines
• Review code and enforce quality
• Ensure output is aligned with business needs

6. Production Ownership & Urgency

• Act as the first point of contact for critical issues
• Ensure system reliability at all times

7. Build Future Tech Capability

• Document systems
• Help hire and mentor the team

Skills & Experience

Must-Have:

• 510 years of experience in backend development
• Strong hands-on coding experience (Ruby preferred, or similar)
• Experience with APIs, databases, and system design
• Experience handling live production systems

Good to Have:

• Exposure to React (not mandatory)
• Exposure to Flutter (not mandatory)
• Experience with AWS
• Experience using AI tools for coding, debugging, documentation, testing, or internal tool building
• Experience in fintech / lending / SaaS

• You prefer only managing and not coding
• You need highly structured environments
• You preferfixed scope work and low-ownership roles
