You will manageRHEL/CentOS/Ubuntusystems, automate operations, collaborate withVMware SDDC(vSphere, vSAN, NSXT) teams, and ensure reliablebackup/DR, patching, and complianceacross hybrid environments. Key Responsibilities Linux Platform Operations Administer and troubleshootRHEL/CentOS/Oracle Linux/Ubuntuservers (systemd, SELinux/AppArmor, LVM, filesystems XFS/EXT4). Manage OS lifecycle:hardening, patching, kernel updates, performance tuning, baseline configuration, and image/Golden template maintenance. Operate and optimizeweb/app/databasehost stacks (Nginx/Apache, Tomcat, JVM, system packages) as needed. Integrate withAD/LDAP/SSSD, managesudo/RBAC, SSH policies, PAM, and certificate/key management. ImplementCIS/organizational hardening, vulnerability remediation, and endpoint protection agents. Ensureaudit logging, syslog/rsyslog, journald retention, and SIEM integration. Operate Linux workloads onVMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter: VM provisioning, resource sizing, VM tools, snapshots, vMotion/Storage vMotion. Collaborate with SDDC teams onvSAN/SAN/NAS storage,NSXT networking(segments, DFW rules, load balancing), andVCF lifecycleconsiderations. Participate in capacity planning and performance analysis (CPU, memory, IOPS, latency). Ensure applicationaware and filelevelbackups(Veeam/Commvault/Rubrik/Cohesity) and verifyrestore tests. MaintainRPO/RTOadherence; supportSRM/HCXbased DR where applicable; maintain DR runbooks and participate in DR drills. Automate routine operations usingBash/PythonandAnsible(roles/playbooks),PowerCLIwhere relevant; contribute toTerraformmodules for infra provisioning. Implement/maintainmonitoring and alerting(vROps, Prometheus/node_exporter, Grafana, Elastic/Splunk, SCOM/Nagios/Zabbix) and tune SLOs/SLIs. Maintain highqualitySOPs, runbooks, CMDB/asset records, and architecture diagrams. ProvideL2/L3support for Linux and platform incidents; drive RCA, problem management, and change management (ITIL). Collaborate with app, DB, network, storage, security, and virtualization teams; participate inoncall/rota. Key skills required: 610 yearsof handson Linux administration in enterprise environments. RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntuadministration, system services, boot, storage (LVM, multipath), packages (yum/dnf/apt). Security hardening (CIS), patching, CVE remediation, SELinux/AppArmor, SSH and sudo policy. Scripting & automation:Bash,Python,Ansible(inventories, roles, vault). Virtualization:Managing Linux VMs onVMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter(templates, snapshots, tools, performance). Networking basics:IP, routing, firewalls (iptables/nftables), NIC bonding/teaming, VLANs; familiarity withNSXTconstructs. Storage:vSAN/SAN/NAS fundamentals, mount management, fstab, iSCSI/NFS. Backup/DR:Operating at least one enterprise suite (Veeam/Commvault/Rubrik/Cohesity), restore testing, retention/immutability concepts. Observability:Logs/metrics/traces; performance diagnostics (top, iostat, vmstat, sar, perf). Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder management; ITIL exposure. Red Hatcertifications (RHCSA/RHCE/EX294),SUSE SCA/SCE, orUbuntucerts. Experience withKubernetes/OpenShiftnode operations, CSI storage, andK8s backup (Velero/Kasten). Exposure toInfrastructure as Code(Terraform),GitOps, andCI/CD(GitLab/Jenkins). Familiarity withHashiCorp Vault/KMS, secrets management, andZeroTrustpatterns. Experience withNutanix AHV,OpenStack/KVM, orHCIsolutions. Educational qualifications: Bachelors or Masters degree
