About the Role:

Were looking for a Senior Quality Engineer who thinks in systems, contracts, and data flowand who understands how store events ripple across enterprise platforms. In this role, youll ensure the reliability, correctness, and scalability of REST API and Kafka based integrations that connect store systems with ERP platforms such as MFCS, OMS, and other downstream consumers.

Youll lead quality efforts for integration heavy domains where correctness, data integrity, and resiliency are critical. Youll work closely with backend engineers, architects, product managers, and platform teams to define test strategies, embed automation, and validate complex end to end workflows across distributed systems. This is a senior, hands-on role with real ownershipdriving automation, influencing integration design for testability, and helping transition the organization from vendor led testing to engineering led Quality Engineering.

What Youll Do:

Own Quality Strategy for Store Integrations:

• Define and drive test strategies for REST API and Kafka based integrations between store systems and enterprise applications.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across asynchronous and synchronous workflows.
• Identify integration risks earlyschema changes, message ordering, retries, idempotency, and failure scenarios.

Be a Core Engineering Partner in an Agile Squad:

• Act as the quality owner during design, refinement, and sprint planning for integration features.
• Partner with backend engineers to influence API contracts, event schemas, and error handling strategies.
• Support release readiness decisions using clear quality signals and test evidence.

Drive Automation for APIs & Event Driven Systems:

• Design and implement automated tests for REST APIs (contract, functional, negative, and integration testing).
• Build and maintain automated validation for Kafka producers, consumers, and event flows.
• Embed automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to support fast and safe deployments.

Strengthen End to End & Regression Coverage:

• Own regression strategies for complex integration landscapes spanning multiple systems.
• Validate end to end scenarios such as inventory updates, order lifecycle events, and financial postings.
• Manage test data across environments to support realistic and repeatable integration testing.

Leverage Observability & Production Insights:

• Use logs, metrics, and traces (Splunk, Dynatrace, Kafka monitoring tools, etc.) to assess system health.
• Analyze production issues to identify test gaps and prevent recurrence through automation.
• Partner with teams to define meaningful quality and reliability metrics for integrations.

Ensure Resilience & Failure Handling:

• Validate retry logic, dead letter handling, replay strategies, and recovery scenarios.
• Test behavior under partial failures, latency, and downstream outages.
• Ensure integrations meet reliability and performance expectations at scale.

Mentor & Scale Quality Capability:

• Mentor junior QEs and help uplift API and integration testing skills.
• Establish standards, best practices, and reusable frameworks for integration quality.
• Support global QE teams (including India based teams) in adopting engineering led quality practices.

What You Bring:

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience with a strong backend/integration focus.
• Handson experience testing RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Strong experience validating Kafka or other event riven/messaging systems.
• Expertise in test automation for APIs and integrations (Java based frameworks.
• Experience with contract testing, schema validation, and backward compatibility.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and continuous testing practices.
• Experience using observability tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, or equivalent.
• Proficiency with JIRA, qTest, or similar test management tools.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to reason about distributed systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Retail domain experience (store systems, inventory, order management, or finance).
• Experience integrating with ERP systems such as MFCS, OMS, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud native architectures and microservices.
• Prior experience leading quality strategy across multiple teams or platforms.
• Experience supporting a shift from vendor heavy QA to engineering led QE.
