Senior Power Bi Developer

Key Responsibilities

1. Dashboard & Visualization Development

• Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards for business and executive users
• Build visually compelling reports with strong storytelling and KPI alignment
• Implement advanced features:
  • Drill-down / drill-through
  • Dynamic filtering and slicers
  • Role-based views

2. Paginated Reports Development (Critical Requirement)

• Design and develop paginated reports using Power BI Report Builder
• Create pixel-perfect, print-ready reports for operational and financial use cases
• Implement:
  • Report bursting (e.g., store-wise / region-wise distribution)
  • Parameterized reports
  • Scheduled report subscriptions
• Ensure high performance and accuracy for large datasets

3. Data Modeling & DAX

• Build and maintain optimized data models (star schema, fact-dimension design)
• Develop advanced DAX measures for business KPIs
• Ensure scalability and performance of datasets

4. Data Integration & Transformation

• Connect to diverse data sources (Snowflake, SQL Server, APIs, flat files)
• Use Power Query (M language) for data transformation
• Collaborate with data engineering teams for curated data layers

5. Performance Optimization

• Optimize report performance:
  • Reduce dataset size
  • Improve refresh times
  • Optimize DAX queries
• Implement best practices like:
  • Incremental refresh
  • Aggregations
  • Query folding

6. Governance & Deployment

• Manage Power BI Service components:
  • Workspaces, datasets, and dataflows
  • Row-Level Security (RLS)
  • Deployment pipelines
• Establish and enforce BI governance standards

7. Stakeholder Engagement

• Gather and translate business requirements into BI solutions
• Work closely with Finance, Operations, and Leadership teams
• Present insights and guide decision-making

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Expert-level proficiency in Power BI (Desktop & Service)
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • Paginated reports (Power BI Report Builder / SSRS)
  • Advanced DAX (CALCULATE, FILTER, time intelligence, etc.)
  • Power Query (M language)
• Strong SQL expertise
• Experience with cloud data platforms like Snowflake

Good to Have

• Experience with dbt or modern data stack
• Knowledge of Azure ecosystem (ADF, Synapse)
• Experience in report bursting and subscription-based reporting
• Familiarity with tools like Tableau or Sigma

Experience

• 6–10 years of experience in BI/Analytics roles
• Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on experience in Power BI
• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale dashboards and paginated reports
