Job Description
About Inflect:
Inflect is a policy intelligence and systems-diagnostics firm working at the intersection of public policy, regulatory foresight, and institutional reform. We partner with governments, multilaterals, and private-sector stakeholders to diagnose systemic delivery failures, map policy architecture, and design implementation-ready interventions across sectors including climate resilience, public health, fiscal systems, digital governance, land administration, EV policy, and social protection.
Our work is deeply research-driven, politically informed, and implementation-focused. We are building a team that combines analytical rigour with strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate complex policy insight into actionable partnerships.
Role Overview
The Business Development Associate will play a central role in shaping Inflects growth strategy by identifying opportunities, building institutional relationships, and supporting the design of high-quality proposals and partnerships. This is not a conventional sales role. It requires an understanding of policy ecosystems, government processes, and the ability to position Inflects diagnostic frameworks to senior decision-makers.
You will work closely with research and strategy teams to translate analytical work into compelling engagement opportunities, develop pipelines across public and private sectors, and help expand Inflects footprint across states and thematic verticals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Opportunity Mapping
- Identify and track emerging opportunities across government departments, multilateral agencies, foundations, and corporate stakeholders.
- Monitor policy announcements, budget allocations, and regulatory developments to anticipate engagement windows.
- Build structured stakeholder maps across sectors such as climate resilience, disaster management, EV policy, land governance, and public finance.
2. Partnership Development & Outreach
- Initiate and maintain relationships with policymakers, senior bureaucrats, industry leaders, and institutional partners.
- Support high-level meetings, roundtables, and consultations by preparing briefs and follow-ups.
- Represent Inflect in external engagements where appropriate, with professionalism and policy fluency.
3. Proposal Development & Positioning
- Collaborate with research teams to translate diagnostics and insights into compelling project pitches.
- Draft concept notes, partnership proposals, and strategic decks aligned with Inflects frameworks.
- Ensure proposals clearly articulate problem framing, institutional context, and implementation pathways.
4. Market Intelligence & Ecosystem Analysis
- Track competitors, consulting trends, and emerging advisory models in policy and regulatory intelligence.
- Analyse demand signals from state governments, ministries, and industry sectors to inform Inflects growth strategy.
- Contribute to internal strategic planning by identifying new thematic or geographic expansion opportunities.
5. Pipeline Management & Internal Coordination
- Maintain structured tracking of leads, conversations, and partnership stages.
- Coordinate with internal teams to align research outputs with external engagement priorities.
- Support founder-led initiatives by preparing background notes, stakeholder briefs, and engagement strategies.
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience
- 57 years of experience in consulting, public policy, development sector partnerships, or institutional engagement roles.
- Strong understanding of Indias governance ecosystem, regulatory landscape, or policy processes.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into persuasive narratives.
- High ownership mindset and comfort operating in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred Background
- Degree in public policy, economics, political science, law, development studies, or a related field.
- Prior exposure to government relations, multilateral engagement, or policy research environments.
- Familiarity with climate policy, fiscal systems, governance reform, or regulatory strategy is an advantage.
What Success Looks Like
- Development of a high-quality opportunity pipeline aligned with Inflects strategic priorities.
- Strong, trust-based relationships with policymakers and institutional partners.
- Well-crafted proposals that reflect Inflects analytical depth and implementation focus.
- Active contribution to positioning Inflect as a credible, upstream policy intelligence partner.
Why Join Inflect
- Work at the frontier of policy intelligence and institutional reform in India.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team working across climate, governance, and regulatory foresight.
- Shape projects that influence real-world decision-making at state and national levels.
- Contribute to building a firm that prioritises rigour, originality, and meaningful impact.
- Competitive compensation aligned with experience and performance.
