Job Description

Job Description:

Within the Global Business Unit Renewable & Flex Power, we are scaling our Site Digitization Hub's delivery capacity. We are opening two senior engineering roles reporting to the SDH Lead to streamline our site onboarding process. You'll be trusted to take a site, be able to access its local SCADA, work through whatever documentation exists (and figure out what's missing), and deliver a clean, auditable connection to the corporate backbone on time.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a strong background in PV and/or BESS technology, demonstrates excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to drive projects to successful completion within the renewable energy sector.

Main Activities & Responsibilities:

The scope of the role includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

  • Own end-to-end SCADA Backbone onboarding for assigned sites (PV, BESS/Hybrid, Wind), from kickoff through Provisional Acceptance.
  • Review SCADA system architecture, SLD documentation, tag lists, and data models submitted by EPC contractors and SCADA OEMs against ENGIE's Minimum Requirements and standards, and issue structured findings with clear compliance/non-compliance rationale
  • Review OT network design, including communication protocol implementation (IEC 104, IEC 61850, Modbus, OPC UA).
  • Configure and troubleshoot site-level dataloggers/Servers and gateways and their integration into ENGIE's SCADA Backbone.
  • Work hands-on across the protocol stack: Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC, TCP/IP, Ethernet/OFC networking
  • Coordinate remotely with OEM vendors, EPC contractors, and country-based commissioning teams to resolve integration blockers
  • Lead or support FAT/SAT activities and ensure tag mapping accuracy, data quality, and telemetry integrity before PAC handover
  • Identify non-conformances in SCADA deliverables, track resolution through to closure, and escalate to SDH leadership where the project timeline or integration quality is at risk
  • Contribute to SDH standards: playbooks, reference architectures, vendor integration patterns, lessons-learned from each project
  • Track & Coordinate with Engie SDH , Engie SCADA Backbone, Engie IT, Project Commissioning, Engineering & O & M teams for onboarding of the upcoming and operational sites to Engie Backbone.
  • Partner with SDH's developers to convert recurring manual work into tooling, feeding real-world requirements into the SDH Site Studio and the Tag Mapping automation pipeline

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, or equivalent discipline
  • 59 years of hands-on experience in utility-scale renewable energy SCADA engineering, with demonstrated depth in solar PV SCADA commissioning, PPC integration and OT network architecture
  • Working proficiency in English (written and spoken); able to produce technical review reports and communicate findings clearly to international project teams and Engineering stakeholders Skills/specific knowledge

Technical Skills:

  • Deep engineering expertise with the ability to validate and cross-check technical documentation including SLD AC/DC, Points List, DBR-Electrical, Tracker Configuration (NCU and Tracker Motor Mapping), Block Layout, and SCADA IFC Combined Set.
  • Strong command of OT communication protocols: IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC DA/UA/XML and site Networking fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and interpreting protection relay schemes, and SCADA architecture drawings to a level that enables independent technical judgment
  • Experience with Power Plant Controller (PPC) operation & understand the operating philosophy and requirements based on country specific regulations.
  • Experience reviewing or preparing SCADA-related technical specifications, RFPs, or Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) protocols.
  • Strong familiarity with OT cybersecurity principles: network segmentation, DMZ design, firewall rule management, and IT/OT boundary architecture
  • Experience delivering on a cloud SCADA / monitoring platform (Bazefield, Univers Qantum, or equivalent enterprise SaaS)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate remotely across time zones with EPCs, OEMs, and O&M teams

Preferred qualifications:

  • Exposure to Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) integration BMS communication protocols, hybrid plant PPC logic, or storage SCADA in a round-the-clock or Industrial context
  • Experience with hybrid plant design combining solar, storage, or other generation technologies under a single SCADA/PPC architecture
  • International project exposure
  • Familiarity with data modelling concepts relevant to SCADA equipment hierarchies, tag naming conventions, or IEC CIM-adjacent asset data standards
  • Experience with any of: EMERSON, GPM, POWERFACTORS, SDI AUTOMAZIONE, ADAPTIVE ENGINEERING, ABB, Hitachi, Isotrol, Schneider AVEVA Wonderware, Emerson,Siemens, Movicon, or Quadrical.ai SCADA platforms.
