SAP MM Consultant Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP MM Consultant to configure, implement, and support SAP Material Management (MM) solutions across procurement and inventory management processes. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SAP MM configuration, Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes, inventory management, and integration with finance, warehouse, and logistics modules.

The consultant will work closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and efficient SAP MM solutions aligned with business requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

SAP MM Configuration & Support

• Configure and support SAP MM processes, including:
• Procurement Processes (PR, RFQ, PO)
• Vendor Master Data Management
• Inventory Management (GR, GI, Stock Transfers)
• Invoice Verification (LIV)
• Valuation and Account Determination
• Release Strategies and Approval Workflows

Business Requirement Gathering

• Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to gather and analyze business requirements.
• Translate business needs into functional specifications and SAP MM solutions.
• Recommend process improvements and best practices for procurement and inventory operations.

Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Process Management

• Support end-to-end Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process implementation and optimization.
• Ensure smooth procurement workflows and material movement processes across the organization.

Integration & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with functional and technical teams to support integration with:
• FI (Accounts Payable, General Ledger)
• SD (Third-party and Intercompany Processes)
• WM/EWM (Warehouse Management / Extended Warehouse Management)
• Other logistics and supply chain modules

Production Support & Troubleshooting

• Handle production support activities, including incident resolution, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
• Coordinate with technical teams for issue resolution and system enhancements.
• Provide post-go-live support and continuous improvement recommendations.

Testing & Deployment Activities

• Participate in:
• Unit Testing
• System Integration Testing (SIT)
• User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Data Migration and Validation
• Cutover Planning and Execution

Documentation & Training

• Prepare and maintain:
• Functional Specifications (FS)
• Configuration Documents
• Test Scripts
• User Guides and Training Materials
• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and end-user training when required.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience in SAP MM configuration and support.
• Deep understanding of procurement lifecycle and inventory management processes.
• Experience with:
• Pricing Procedures in MM
• Release Strategies
• Account Determination
• Invoice Verification (LIV)
• Material Master and Vendor Master Management
• Strong understanding of Procure-to-Pay (P2P) business processes.
• Knowledge of SAP MM integration with FI and logistics modules.
• Experience in at least one end-to-end SAP implementation, rollout, or support project.
• Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Exposure to support and incident management tools such as:
• SAP Solution Manager
• JIRA
• ServiceNow

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on SAP S/4HANA MM implementations or support projects.
• Exposure to global rollouts and transformation programs.
• Basic knowledge of:
• IDocs
• Interfaces
• SAP integration concepts
• Experience with WM/EWM is a plus.
• SAP MM certification preferred.
