SAP Functional Solution Architect

Role Summary

The SAP S/4HANA Functional Solution Architect will be responsible for endtoend solution design, functional governance, and business transformation leadership across SAP S/4HANA programs. This role works closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams, and technical architects to ensure scalable, cleancore, and industryaligned SAP solutions.

The architect acts as the functional authority across multiple SAP streams and plays a critical role in presales, program delivery, and solution assurance.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Design

• Own endtoend SAP S/4HANA solution architecture across functional domains (OTC, PTP, preferred etc.).
• Define tobe business processes aligned with SAP Best Practices and industry standards.
• Ensure architectural compliance across:
• Core S/4
• Addons
• Integrations
• Reporting & analytics

Program & Delivery Leadership

• Provide functional oversight across multiple SAP workstreams.
• Review and approve:
• Functional designs
• Configuration strategy
• WRICEF rationalization
• Proactively manage crossprocess dependencies and risks.
• Act as design authority during solution reviews, design freezing, and release milestones.

Business & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with process owners, and IT leadership to translate business strategy into SAP solutions.
• Facilitate:
• FittoStandard workshops
• Design thinking sessions
• Gap prioritization discussions
• Ensure alignment between business outcomes and SAP capabilities.

PreSales & Advisory Support

• Support presales engagements including:
• Solution definition
• RFP responses
• Estimation reviews
• Architecture decks
• Articulate valuebased SAP transformation stories to clients.
• Mentor presales and solution teams on SAP S/4 best practices.

Governance & Quality Assurance

• Establish and enforce:
• Functional design standards
• Configuration governance
• Documentation templates
• Ensure regulatory and compliance alignment where applicable.
• Provide guidance on data migration, testing strategy, and cutover approach.

Required Skills & Experience

SAP Functional Expertise

• 12+ years of SAP functional experience.
• Strong handson expertise in S/4HANA (OnPrem / Public / Private Cloud).
• Deep knowledge in one or more core areas:
• Supply Chain (MM/SD/PP/QM)
• Proven experience leading large S/4 transformation programs.

Architecture & Process Knowledge

• Strong understanding of:
• SAP Best Practices
• FittoStandard methodologies
• Clean Core architecture
• Experience with:
• SAP BTP (integration/extensibility concepts)
• SAP Activate methodology
• Ability to design solutions with minimal customization.

Stakeholder & Leadership Skills

• Excellent communication and executivelevel presentation skills.
• Proven ability to influence senior business stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring functional leads and solution consultants.
• Strong analytical and decisionmaking capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in engineering, Technology, or Business.
• SAP S/4HANA certification(s) preferred.
• MBA or equivalent is an added advantage.
• High Pedigree of education and organizations preferred
