High-level Responsibilities


The PD and R engineer at Planys Technologies is responsible for several broad functions including

o research and development,

o standardisation, and

o scale-up to commercial deployment

o product and payload survey

o interaction with OEMs and inspection service providers

relating to NDT techniques, survey modalities, and related payloads and subsystems, for robotic platforms.


This engineer will also need to lead projects drawing resources from several different departments at Planys, working with several external OEMs and service providers to understand and assess feasibility of combining and developing the following activities,

o NDT techniques including ultrasonics, electromagnetics, and acoustics, and

o survey modalities including bathymetry, sub-bottom profiling, imaging sonars, and scour estimation

o Development, testing and deployment of control algorithms, and other vehicle software systems for autonomous navigation and survey.

o other emerging vision-based modalities including Laser, photogrammetry, and Lidar

This engineer will be responsible for rigorous literature review to support feasibility studies for adapting emerging technologies on robotic platforms; numerical and experimental work for proof-of-concept stage solutions, and finally, organise and lead field trials and pilot projects of the developed prototype inspection systems.

The engineer will need to interact with several internal departments including the business development, product development, maintenance, and operations for understanding requirements and assessing project feasibility, providing inputs to design, fabrication and procurements, and providing documentation and training material for field engineers to use developed technology in the field, respectively.

He/ she will also be responsible for publishing and presenting papers at conferences; publishing journals, and patents on the developed technologies.

The engineer will also be involved in management of project delivery, project related reports and updates, product documentation - operation and training manuals in coordination with the engineering department, and post-delivery technical and warranty related support. .

The engineer will also be responsible to lead implementation projects in the field. This endeavour will include, planning of the operation from both logistic and technical perspectives, interact and explain the technology to the end-user, preparation of pre- and post-mobilization plans, execute the project, preparation of data acquisition templates, standard operating procedures and training materials, and, subsequent to de-mobilization, preparation of report generation documentation.

Key skills which are fundamental to your candidature include,

o Logical reasoning and aptitude

o Fundamentals of physics, mathematics and programming, will be an advantage

o Programming, robotics, controls

o Excellent communication skills - translate ideas and thought process into words and code.


Qualifications:

> Master's or PhD in relevant areas

> Have performed experimental or numerical research

> Strong background in algorithms/ mathematics/ physics
