Sandfits Foundries Private Limited is a pre-eminent iron casting manufacturing company that produces Grey Iron, Ductile Iron, CG Iron, and AD Iron. Sandfits has 3 foundries with a capacity of 60000 tons PA. Sandfits has a dedicated machine shop to deliver precision iron components to customers worldwide. Sandfits Foundries are located in and around Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India and has a certified IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.

The Role

The Purchase Engineer will manage end-to-end procurement for Foundry and Machine Shop operations. This role focuses on strategic sourcing, vendor development, and cost optimization for raw materials, CAPEX, tooling, and outsourced services to ensure seamless production and project timelines.

Key Repsonsibilities

• Procurement & Sourcing: Execute end-to-end purchasing of foundry/machine shop consumables (sand, alloys, inserts, coolants), CAPEX, and non-standard items based on technical drawings
• Vendor Management: Identify and onboard new suppliers; conduct audits and performance reviews based on QCDR (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Responsiveness).
• Subcontracting: Manage outsourced services including Heat Treatment, Shot Blasting, Coating, and Calibration
• Technical Coordination: Interpret technical drawings and BOMs; collaborate with Engineering/Production to resolve quality issues (NCRs) and manage breakdown spares.
• Project Support: Track procurement schedules for new projects, machine commissioning, and SOP-critical materials to prevent production downtime
• Inventory & Commercials: Monitor ERP inventory levels to prevent overstocking; analyze market trends (steel/scrap) and manage GST/statutory compliance

Qualifications / Experience and Skills

• Graduate Engineer in Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 10 years experience in Foundry / Machine Shop / Heavy Engineering in SCM / Purchase.
• Key skills include - Expertise in negotiation and cost-reduction techniques; Deep understanding of machining and foundry processes; Strong cross-functional coordination and urgency in handling breakdown requirements; technical drawing interpretation, and project-based procurement.
