Designation: Project Controller, MD Office

Grade: Senior Manager

Reporting to: Managing Director

1. Position Overview

The Project Controller, based in the MDs Office, will act as a central command for project governance, MIS consolidation, and strategic monitoring of all railway signalling projects. The role ensures real-time visibility on project progress, profitability, KPIs, risks, and execution bottlenecks, enabling the MD and leadership team to take timely, data-driven decisions.

2. Role Objective

Establish various types of MIS across all projects

Drive on-time, within-budget execution

Provide early warning signals on delays, cost overruns, and risks

Enable MD-level reviews with actionable insights

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1 Centralized Project Monitoring

Track all projects on pan-India basis (Signalling, Digital Axle Counters, AMC)

Monitor:

Physical progress vs planned schedule

Milestone adherence (Railway approvals, commissioning stages)

Highlight slippages and critical path deviations

3.2 MIS & MD Dashboard

Design, maintain, and publish MD-level dashboards covering:

Project-wise status

Zone/Division-wise performance

Order Book vs Execution

Lessons learned & database creation

Ensure data accuracy from site MD Office

3.3 Project Profitability & Financial Control

Track project-level:

Budget vs Actual Cost

Billing vs Collection

Cost overruns and margin erosion

Variation/NS items

Work closely with Finance for revenue recognition and cash flow tracking

3.4 KPI Tracking & Governance

Define and track key KPIs such as:

On-time project completion

Execution vs Order Book

% Projects in Green Category

Margin variance

Billing efficiency

3.6 Risk, Issue & Escalation Management

Maintain central risk register across projects

Flag:

Approval delays (Railways / RDSO / Clients)

Material shortages

Site readiness issues

Escalate critical issues to MD with solution-oriented recommendations

3.7 Cross-functional Coordination

Liaise with:

Bidding Team

Project Managers / Site Teams

Design & Engineering Team

Procurement & Supply Chain

Finance

Commercial Support Team

Ensure alignment between execution reality and reported data

3.8 Review & Governance Mechanism

Drive structured monthly MD reviews:

Prepare decision notes for MD:

Problem Analysis Recommendation

3.9 Data Standardization & Digitization

Standardize MIS formats across projects

Implement dashboards (Power BI / Excel / ERP)

Improve reporting discipline and automation

6. Qualifications & Experience

B.Tech / B.E. (Electronics / Electrica preferred)

8-10 years experience in railway signalling / EPC project control / PMO

Experience handling multi-project MIS and reporting
