Job Description
Position Overview
This role is critical in ensuring uninterrupted production in our continuous process industry through strategic sourcing, inventory optimization, and cost management.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Management
- Manage end-to-end procurement of raw materials (cullet, soda ash, limestone, silica sand, and other RMs), packing materials (shrink film, trays, cartons), engineering spares, consumables, and CapEx items
- Execute the complete procure-to-pay (P2P) cycle including vendor identification, negotiation, purchase order generation, receipt verification, and payment processing
- Ensure zero production stoppages due to material unavailability in this continuous process manufacturing environment
- Develop and maintain a robust vendor base with focus on reliability, quality, and competitive pricing
- Creation of orders in tally
Old bottle management
- Ensure minimum 70% collection of old bottles from all locations we operate
- MIS : prepare a detailed report based on the secondary sales data, old bottles inward and identify the gaps
- Coordinate with the team at respective states and ensure the gaps are addressed
- Give necessary instructions and ensure the timely movement of old bottles.
- Attend the problems if any related to logistics, commercial and ensure seamless supply
Inventory Management
- Maintain optimum inventory levels balancing working capital efficiency with production requirements
- Conduct regular cycle counting and physical stock verification
- Identify and systematically reduce obsolete and non-moving stock
- Implement inventory control systems and best practices
- Monitor stock turnover ratios and days of inventory on hand
Cost Management & Budgeting
- Drive continuous cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, vendor consolidation, and negotiation
- Develop and implement cost-saving strategies including material substitution, value engineering, and bulk purchasing
- Ensure procurement spending remains within approved budgets
- Track and report cost savings and avoidance metrics
MIS & Reporting
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly Management Information System (MIS) reports
- Provide actionable insights on procurement performance, spend analysis, vendor performance, and inventory metrics
- Present procurement dashboards to senior management
Vendor Management
- Evaluate, onboard, and manage vendor relationships
- Conduct vendor audits and performance reviews
- Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and payment terms
- Develop backup suppliers for critical materials
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor the procurement team
- Set performance objectives and conduct periodic reviews
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability

Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field
- MBA or postgraduate degree in Supply Chain/Operations preferred
Experience
- Minimum 10 - 12 years of relevant procurement experience in glass manufacturing industry
- Experience in continuous process industries (glass, cement, steel, chemicals, paper) is highly preferred
- Proven track record in managing procurement for raw materials, packing materials, spares, and CapEx
Essential Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- ERP Systems: Proficiency in Tally ERP is mandatory; SAP knowledge is a strong advantage
- Strong understanding of procure-to-pay processes
- Expertise in inventory management techniques (ABC analysis, EOQ, safety stock calculations)
- Knowledge of glass manufacturing raw materials and processes is preferred
