ProC Developer - Technical Specialist-Data Engg

Area(s) of responsibility

A ProC Developer specializes in designing, developing, and maintaining robust database solutions especially stored procedures, functions, triggers using Pro*C/PL-SQL within Oracle or similar environments. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into efficient, scalable, and secure systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Development & Implementation
• Design, code, and maintain Pro*C modules, Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, and packages.
• Collaborate with application developers and business analysts to analyze requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Performance Optimization & Testing
• Optimize SQL queries, tune database performance, and ensure efficient execution.
• Conduct unit testing, end-to-end testing, and assist QA teams in debugging database issues.
• Support & Maintenance
• Provide on-call production support, troubleshoot incidents, and resolve server/service issues.
• Monitor database health, maintain backup/recovery procedures, and implement security controls.
• Documentation & Best Practices
• Create clear technical documentation and follow coding standards, version control (Git), and CI/CD tools like Jenkins.
• Improvement & Collaboration
• Gather feedback, identify process improvements, and propose enhancements to database architecture.
• Work in Agile/Scrum environments and participate in regular sprint planning and code reviews.

 

Skills & Competencies

Database Expertise

• Deep experience with SQL performance tuning, indexing strategies, and optimization techniques

 

Software & DevOps Tools

• Familiarity with CI/CD frameworks (Jenkins), version management (Git), and scripting languages
• Understanding of Agile workflows and functional programming paradigms

 

 Communication & Collaboration

• Excellent verbal and written communication to effectively liaise with clients and cross-functional teams
• Experience working in team environments, with capability to work independently when required
