Role Description The Phonics Tutor will deliver engaging, 1:1 online phonics sessions to early-grade learners, focusing on letter sounds, blending, segmenting, and reading fluency. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning structured lesson plans, using interactive teaching tools, assessing student progress, and providing regular feedback to learners and parents or caregivers. The tutor will adapt teaching methods to individual learning styles, support confidence-building in reading, and collaborate with the Eternity Classes team to align with curriculum and quality standards. This is a part-time, remote role that requires reliable availability across selected time zones and professional communication in an online environment.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong phonics instruction skills, including expertise in letter-sound relationships, blending and segmenting strategies, and early reading development.
  • Candidates should possess teaching and classroom management skills, such as lesson planning, differentiated instruction, and maintaining learner engagement in 1:1 or small-group settings.
  • Candidates should possess communication and interpersonal skills, including clear spoken and written English, active listening, and the ability to build rapport with children and families.
  • Candidates should possess online teaching and technical skills, such as proficiency with video conferencing platforms, digital whiteboards, and basic troubleshooting for remote sessions.
  • Candidates should possess assessment and feedback skills, including the ability to track progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instruction based on learner performance.
  • Relevant teaching certifications, training in early literacy or phonics programs, or a degree in Education, English, or a related field are beneficial.
  • Prior experience tutoring or teaching young learners in an online or in-person setting is highly advantageous.
