Job Description

Role: L2 Database Administrator (Oracle/ Cloud / Automation)

Required Technical Skill Set :Primary Oracle Database Administration, RMAN, Dataguard

Secondary MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL

Desired Experience Range :6 8 years

Location: Chennai


Desired Competencies (Technical/Behavioural Competency)

  1. Must-Have

Key Responsibilities:

  • User management:
  • Create, modify and manage database users, roles and privileges.

Ensure security compliance and access control across the environment.

  • Space & Tablespace management:
  • Monitor tablespaces, manage datafiles, perform space allocation, resizing and capacity planning.
  • Performance Tuning & SQL Optimization:
  • Analyse AWR/ASH reports, identify top SQL queries, tune SQL queries and improve the database performance.
  • RMAN Backup & Recovery:
  • Perform full/incremental backups, restoration, recover and validate backup integrity.

Manage retention policies and recovery catalog.

  • Database Refresh & Migration:
  • Handle export/import using Data Pump, perform schema/database refresh and support migration activities across the environments.
  • Data Guard Administration:
  • Configure and maintain standby databases, monitor sync, perform switchover/failover.
  • Ticket Handling & Production Support:

Handle tickets, troubleshoot issues and ensure SLA compliance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in Oracle DBA activities.
  • Handson experience in RMAN backup & recovery.
  • Experience in performance tuning and SQL Optimization, Oracle database installation and migration and data guard configuration.
  • Scripting: PowerShell, UNIX shell scripting.
  • Experience Level: Typically, 68 years in database administration.

Good-to-Have

  • Knowledge of MsSQL, MySQL & PostgreSQL Basics.
  • Experience with additional cloud DB engines (AWS RDS, AWS EC2, Azure).
  • Exposure to monitoring tools: CloudWatch, SolarWinds, OEM, Commvault backup tool, SCOM.
