HCLTech is looking for a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator (Oracle & PostgreSQL) to play a strategic, handson leadership role in designing, modernizing, and governing enterprisescale database platforms.

This position is ideal for senior professionals with deep database architecture expertise, proven OracletoPostgreSQL migration experience, and the ability to collaborate across application, infrastructure, cloud, and DevOps teams.

Key Responsibilities

Database Architecture & Engineering

• Design, architect, and implement secure, scalable, and highperformance Oracle and PostgreSQL database solutions.
• Define and govern enterprise database standards, best practices, and reference architectures.
• Provide architectural guidance on Oracle Data Guard and PostgreSQL HA/replication frameworks.

Oracle PostgreSQL Migration Leadership

• Lead endtoend migration initiatives including discovery, assessment, planning, execution, and validation.
• Drive schema, data, and code migration with a strong focus on risk mitigation and operational readiness.
• Work with EDB / PostgreSQL Advanced Server to leverage Oracle compatibility capabilities.
• Utilize and govern migration toolsets such as EDB Migration Tools, Ora2Pg, and similar frameworks.

Performance Engineering & Optimization

• Perform advanced SQL, PL/SQL, and PL/pgSQL tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis, and parameter optimization.
• Ensure performance parity or measurable improvements during and postmigration.

High Availability, Backup & Disaster Recovery

• Design and govern Oracle Data Guard, HA, and DR architectures across multidatacenter environments.
• Define PostgreSQL HA strategies including streaming replication, EDB Failover Manager, and clustered HA models.
• Ensure robust backup and recovery using Oracle RMAN and PostgreSQL native tools.

Security, Compliance & Governance

• Implement and enforce security controls including encryption, authentication, auditing, and RBAC.
• Ensure all modernization and migration initiatives comply with enterprise security and regulatory standards.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

• Act as the technical SME and thought leader for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and migration programs.
• Partner with application, cloud, infrastructure, and DevOps teams to align architecture and delivery.
• Mentor and upskill DBAs and junior architects across multiplatform database technologies.

Required Skills & Experience

Oracle Expertise

• Strong handson experience with Oracle 11g/12c/19c, RAC, Data Guard, ASM, OEM, and RMAN.
• Proven experience managing largescale, highly available Oracle environments.

PostgreSQL Expertise

• Extensive experience with PostgreSQL (Community or EDB) including HA frameworks, tuning, monitoring, security, and backup strategies.
• Strong knowledge of schema design, partitioning, replication, and configuration management.

Oracle PostgreSQL Migration

• Deep expertise in:
• Schema and object conversion
• PL/SQL to PL/pgSQL transformation
• Migration estimation and compatibility assessment
• Postmigration performance tuning and validation
• Strong understanding of migration risks, tooling limitations, HA considerations, and support gaps.

Automation & Tooling (Preferred)

• Experience with Shell scripting, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar automation frameworks is a strong plus.
