SN Role descriptions / Expectations from the Role

1 Detailed knowledge of Oracle Database management processes and architecture

2 Marked ability to communicate and articulate technology discussions in relation to Databases at both technical and business levels.

3 A Minimum of 8 years experience as an Oracle DBA;

4 Comprehensive knowledge and experience in supporting & maintaining RDBMS

5 Knowledge and experience in Oracle MAA (Maximum Availability frameworks)

6 Thorough understanding of Oracle performance analysis and tuning / capacity planning / query optimization

7 Extensive experience with building & supporting the latest versions of Oracle Exadata Systems Environments is required

8 Experience in writing Shell Scripting, Linux, Unix, Windows

9 Experience with Oracle OEM Performance monitoring & Automation tools

Technology Brief


As part of the IT Service Management & Operations (CBAs uniform IT Operations department), the Service Performance Management team are the IT Operations Technical Leads for CBAs end-to-end Critical Channel Systems such as CommBiz, CommSee, NetBank and CommSec; and their core dependencies such as SAP, Oracle databases and Network.


The team is fundamentally responsible for the technical excellence and resilience of CBAs mission critical and high volume IT Systems across the end-to-end production environment.


This is typically achieved through the delivery of a number of proactive activities that traverse in-depth performance investigation & optimisation, technical approval of change, optimising system monitoring design and risk identification and mitigation. As well as providing an escalation point to resolve highly complex incidents and problems, the team is also utilised for project related activities including consulting and delivery.
