NMS Engineer

NMS Engineer BTS / MW / RAN / RF (Ericsson & Ceragon Airtel Project)

Job Summary:

Experienced NMS Engineer responsible for monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining telecom network elements including BTS, Microwave (MW), RAN, and RF systems. Hands-on experience with Ericsson and Ceragon equipment in Airtel network environments. Ensures network availability, performance optimization, and SLA compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Network Monitoring & Operations

• 24x7 monitoring of network elements via NMS tools.
• Alarm monitoring and fault management for BTS, MW, RAN, and RF.
• First-level troubleshooting and escalation as per SLA.
• KPI monitoring and performance reporting.

2. BTS / RAN / MW Support (Ericsson) NMS Engineer

• 24x7 monitoring of 2G / 3G / 4G LTE BTS and RAN nodes through OSS/ENM.
• Alarm handling for RRU, BBU, DU, CU, transmission, synchronization, and power modules.
• Monitoring cell availability, sector down, site outage, and service degradation issues.
• Initial troubleshooting of RAN-related alarms and remote resolution support.
• KPI monitoring (CSSR, DCR, HOSR, ERAB SR, PRB utilization, Traffic utilization).
• Transmission backhaul monitoring between BTS and BSC/RNC/ENodeB.
• Support for software loading, patch upgrades, and configuration changes via NMS.
• Coordination with field engineers and transmission teams for fault rectification.
• Preventive maintenance checks and network health monitoring to ensure SLA compliance

3. RAN / Microwave (MW) Ceragon (NMS Operations)

• Monitoring Ceragon MW links and RAN backhaul connectivity via Ceragon NMS.
• Handling alarms related to RFU, IDU, ODU, modem, Ethernet ports, and power supply.
• Troubleshooting link down, high BER, low RSSI, interference, and capacity congestion issues.
• Performance monitoring of MW links (throughput, latency, jitter, packet loss, utilization).
• Ensuring RAN backhaul stability and uptime as per SLA requirements.
• Remote configuration support, bandwidth modification, and ATPC monitoring.
• Coordination for path alignment and MW optimization with field teams.
• Support during MW migration, upgrade, and capacity expansion activities

4. RF & Optimization Support

• Monitoring cell availability and congestion issues.
• Basic RF troubleshooting support.
• KPI analysis (CSSR, DCR, Handover Success Rate, etc.).
• Support during drive test analysis and performance improvement activities.

5. Incident & Escalation Management

• Ticket creation and tracking in ticketing tools.
• Coordination with Airtel operations team.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) preparation.
• SLA compliance and reporting.

Tools & Platforms:

• Ericsson OSS / ENM
• Ceragon NMS
• U2000 / NetAct / Other NMS tools
• Ticketing tools (Remedy, ServiceNow, etc.)
• MS Excel for KPI reporting

Required Skills:

• Strong knowledge of GSM / WCDMA / LTE networks.
• Understanding of MW transmission concepts.
• Alarm handling and fault management expertise.
• Basic knowledge of IP networking.
• Ability to work in 24x7 shift operations.
• Good communication and coordination skills.

Education:

• Diploma / B.Tech / B.E in Electronics, Telecommunications, or related field.

Experience:

• 26 years of experience in Telecom NOC/NMS.
• Experience handling Ericsson & Ceragon equipment.
• Experience working on Airtel or other telecom operator projects preferred.
