About the Role: The MD IT Data Engineering based in Chennai will lead the strategy, architecture, and delivery of enterprise-scale data engineering capabilities. This role is responsible for building and operating the organizations next-generation data ecosystemencompassing cloud data platforms, pipelines, and integration frameworksenabling analytics, AI/ML, and data products at scale. The MD IT provides visionary leadership, drives modernization, and ensures the enterprises data foundation is secure, scalable, governed, and business aligned.

Responsibilities:

• Data Platform frameworks & Pipeline Ownership: Oversee the design, build, and operation of cloud-native data platforms (Databricks, GCP, etc) and resilient data pipelines for batch, streaming, and real-time use cases.
• Modern Architecture Leadership: Drive adoption of modern paradigms (e.g., Lakehouse, event-driven architectures, Data Product design, Data factory) to future-proof the organizations data foundation.
• DataOps & Engineering Excellence: Champion DataOps practices, CI/CD, observability, and automation for faster, more reliable delivery.
• Security, Compliance & Governance Alignment: Ensure all engineering practices meet enterprise, regulatory, and security standards, embedding governance into platform operations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product, platform, infrastructure, and business teams to prioritize initiatives and deliver measurable value.
• Talent & Organization Leadership: Build and lead a global team of senior data engineers, architects, and platform specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and engineering excellence.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree or equivalent* in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related quantitative field such as engineering plus 15+ years of experience in the job offered or 15+ years related work experience in data engineering, application development and advanced analytical environment.
• Extensive knowledge in data engineering and AI frameworks including design, development and implementation of highly complex systems and data pipelines.
• Extensive knowledge in Information Systems including design, development and implementation of large batch or online transaction-based systems.
• Strong understanding of the transportation industry, competitors, and evolving technologies are desirable.
• Experience providing leadership in a general planning or consulting setting.
• Experience as a leader or a senior member of multi-function project teams.
