Lead Battery Engineer – Mechanical | EV

We are looking for a Lead Battery Engineer Mechanical to drive the design and development of battery modules and packs for electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

This role requires strong expertise in mechanical design (SolidWorks) along with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and take ownership from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a Lead Battery Engineer Mechanical to drive the design and development of battery modules and packs for electric vehicles and energy storage systems.

This role requires strong expertise in mechanical design (SolidWorks) along with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and take ownership from concept to production.

Battery Pack & Module Design

Lead mechanical design of battery packs, modules, and enclosures

Develop 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs with a focus on manufacturability

Optimize cell layout, packaging, and integration for performance and efficiency

System Integration

Work closely with BMS, electrical, and thermal teams for seamless integration

Drive design reviews and resolve technical challenges

Design Validation & Quality

Conduct DFMEA, tolerance stack-ups, and DFM/DFA reviews

Lead validation activities (vibration, thermal, structural) and implement improvements

Maintain design documentation, ECNs, and release records

Supplier & Production Support

Coordinate with vendors and manufacturing teams for prototyping and production

Support supplier selection and tooling readiness

Problem Solving & Leadership

Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions

Drive cost and weight optimization initiatives

Mentor junior engineers and guide design best practices

Requirements:

B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Mechatronics or related field

7+ years of experience in mechanical design

Minimum 4 years in EV battery systems / energy storage

Strong hands-on experience in SolidWorks (must-have)

Good understanding of battery pack architecture, enclosure design, and integration

Knowledge of thermal management and structural design

Experience with DFMEA, DFM/DFA, and validation processes

Strong problem-solving and team leadership skills.

Note: Candidates with relevant experience in EV / battery systems will be prioritized.
