Role Overview

One of our clients is looking for an experienced Partner Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)/ General Corporate/ Transactions to strengthen our corporate practice in Mumbai.

Key Responsibilities

Transactional & Advisory

• Lead and advise on domestic and cross-border M&A, joint ventures, strategic investments, private equity and restructuring transactions
• Drive deal strategy, structuring, negotiation, and execution
• Act as the primary relationship partner for key clients
• Ensure high-quality drafting, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance

Practice & Team Leadership

• Build, mentor, and manage a core team
• Oversee workflow, quality control, and associate development
• Collaborate with other practice groups (tax, competition, regulatory, disputes) on integrated mandates

Business Development & Firm Contribution

• For partners with a book: grow and retain existing client relationships
• For partners without a book: actively participate in firm-led BD, pitches, and cross-selling initiatives
• Contribute to the firms brand, thought leadership, and strategic growth

Candidate Profile

Mandatory

• 12+ years PQE in corporate / M&A practice
• Currently a Partner or Partner-track counsel at a Tier-1 or strong Tier-2 firm in India
• Deep expertise in M&A transactions, including complex negotiations and structuring
• Strong commercial acumen and client-handling skills
• Experience leading and supervising teams

Preferred

• Exposure to cross-border transactions
• Sectoral experience (e.g., PE/VC, infrastructure, technology, manufacturing, energy)
• Ability to build and scale a practice over time
