Job Description: L2 VMware Engineer / Administrator

Role Overview

We are seeking anL2 VMware Engineer / Administratorto manage and support virtual infrastructure across multiple client environments.

This role will handleday-to-day VMware operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting, working closely with senior engineers for escalations and design changes.

Key Responsibilities

VMware Infrastructure Management

• Administer and supportVMware vSphere environments
• Manage:
• Virtual machines (VM provisioning, cloning, snapshots)
• ESXihosts
• Resource allocation (CPU, RAM, storage)

vCenter Operations

• Monitor and manageVMware vCenter Server
• Perform:
• VM migrations (vMotion)
• Template creation and deployment
• Cluster health checks

Monitoring & Performance

• Monitor:
• Host and VM performance
• Storageutilization
• Alerts and system health
• Identifyand resolve performance bottlenecks

Troubleshooting & Support

• Diagnose and resolve:
• VM performance issues
• Host connectivity problem
• Snapshot-related issues
• Handle L2 tickets and escalate complex issues to L3

Backup & DR Support

• Support backup solutions (Veeam or similar)
• Verify backup jobs andassistin restores
• Assistin disaster recovery testing

Patch & Maintenance

• Perform:
• ESXipatching and updates
• VM tools upgrades
• Assistin scheduled maintenance windows

MSP Operations & Ticketing

• Work within SLA for incident and service requests
• Providetimelyupdates to clients
• Maintain documentation for configurations and changes

Requirements

• 35 years of hands-on experience with VMware environments
• Strong knowledge of:
• Virtualization concepts
• VM lifecycle management

Technical Skills

(Must Have)

• Experience with:
• VMware vSphere
• VMwareESXi
• VMware vCenter Server
• VM provisioning, cloning, snapshots
• Basic networking & storage concepts

Good to Have

• Experience with:
• Veeam or similar backup tools
• SAN/NAS storage
• Knowledge of:
• High Availability (HA)
• Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS)

KPIs

• VM uptime and availability
• Ticket resolution time
• Backup success rate
• Patch compliance

Soft Skills

• Strong troubleshooting mindset
• Ability to work in an MSP environment
• Clear communication with clients and internal teams

Work Environment

• MSP-based, multi-client support
• On-call rotation (ifrequired)
• Weekend maintenance windows (planned)
