Role Description

We need a Senior UAV Engineer who has actually built, flown, and fixed UAV systems under real conditions not just simulated them. You will lead design, integration, and field operations for our multi-rotor and fixed-wing programmes, mentor the engineering team, and work directly with the founders on strategic technical decisions. This is a full ownership role: you define the architecture, validate it in the field, and are accountable for the outcome.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Lead end-to-end design, prototyping, and testing of custom multirotor and fixed-wing UAV systems you own the programme, not just a subsystem
2. Develop and validate UAV flight dynamics models and stability analyses; understand what your simulations are telling you and act on it
3. Integrate and configure flight control systems Pixhawk, ArduPilot, PX4, custom FPV stacks and tune them for real-world mission performance, not just bench behaviour
4. Own full system integration: avionics, RF telemetry, payload, sensor fusion, power management, and comms everything works together or nothing flies
5. Plan, execute, and debrief autonomous and manual flight operations using QGroundControl, Mission Planner, or equivalent GCS platforms
6. Lead field testing campaigns define test matrices, execute in varied conditions, analyse flight data, and close findings with concrete design changes
7. Mentor junior engineers and interns with the patience to build them up and the standards to push them forward
8. Define system requirements, review designs across disciplines, and make technical trade-off calls with speed and confidence
9. Maintain rigorous documentation: design specs, integration logs, flight data records, performance reports your institutional knowledge must be transferable
10. Actively track UAV technology developments and bring specific, actionable proposals for how emerging tech applies to our programmes

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in Aerospace, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electronics, or closely related discipline
• 2+ years of hands-on UAV design, integration, and field testing experience CVs without real flight hours and real field time will not be shortlisted
• Deep working knowledge of Pixhawk, ArduPilot/PX4, and at least one FPV or custom flight controller stack you have configured, tuned, and debugged these in the field
• Proven competence in both autonomous mission flight and manual UAV piloting DGCA Remote Pilot Certificate is a strong advantage
• Solid background in UAV systems integration: RF communications, IMU/GPS/sensor fusion, power management, payload interfaces
• Proficiency in GCS tools QGroundControl, Mission Planner and experience with companion computer integration (Raspberry Pi, Jetson, etc.)
• Experience in UAV dynamics modelling and simulation (MATLAB/Simulink, ROS, or equivalent)
• Leadership that earns respect through competence, not title you set the technical standard for the team by example
• Excellent project management instincts: you know how to prioritise when three things are on fire simultaneously
