Junior Cloud Security Engineer

SysCloud is a Backup-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform providing the capability within a single pane of glass to backup mission critical SaaS applications such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, QuickBooks Online, HubSpot, Slack, and Salesforce. Our platform offers a comprehensive suite of solutions like backup, data recovery, ransomware protection, compliance alerts, and eDiscovery search.

SysCloud is looking for a Junior Cloud Security Engineer with 12 years of hands-on experience in Cloud Security and Cybersecurity. The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of securing cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and web applications, and be passionate about maintaining and improving security across our cloud environment.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or Cybersecurity

Additional Qualifications

Mandatory: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or AWS security-related certification (completed or in progress)

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in cloud security, IT security, or a closely related role
• Experience analyzing security logs or SIEM alerts
• Scripting skills (Python or Bash) for automation tasks
• Hands-on knowledge of AWS core services and networking components
• Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and command-line tools
• Understanding of common vulnerability types (OWASP Top 10, CVEs, cloud misconfigurations)
• Familiarity with Docker and container security fundamentals
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
• Basic knowledge of security compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST CSF
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and eagerness to learn

Position Overview

As a Junior Cloud Security Engineer at SysCloud, you will support our cybersecurity team in securing our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and web applications. You will assist in the day-to-day operation of security tools, identify vulnerabilities, respond to alerts, and contribute to compliance and security automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage IAM policies, security group rules, and access control configurations in AWS environments
• Monitor and triage security alerts from AWS security services and SIEM platforms
• Conduct vulnerability scanning, security assessments, remediation tracking, and patch management activities
• Review security findings from CI/CD pipelines, container scans, and code analysis tools
• Triage, investigate, and document the security incidents
• Contribute to internal security documentation, runbooks, and compliance evidence collection
• Perform access request reviews and user provisioning/deprovisioning workflows
• Support endpoint and workstation security management operations
• Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to communicate security requirements, findings, and remediation actions
