ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Design Engineer who will take ownership of end-to-end HVAC system design, engineering calculations, and technical coordination for commercial and industrial projects.

This role is critical in ensuring that HVAC systems are designed for optimal performance, energy efficiency, cost effectiveness, and seamless execution.

You will work closely with consultants, project managers, estimation teams, and draughtsmen to ensure that design intent is accurately translated into execution.

DESIGN ENGINEER SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER DESIGN MANAGER TECHNICAL HEAD



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


1) HVAC System Design & Engineering (CORE RESPONSIBILITY)

Design complete HVAC systems including:

- VRV/VRF systems

- Chilled water systems (Chillers, Pumps, Piping)

- Air side systems (AHU, FAHU, FCU, Ventilation)

- Ducting layouts and air distribution systems

Perform system selection and sizing based on project requirements

Ensure optimal system configuration for performance and efficiency


2) Heat Load & Engineering Calculations

Perform detailed engineering calculations including:


- Heat load calculations (Cooling & Heating)

- Fresh air and ventilation calculations

- Static pressure calculations for ducting systems

- Pump head calculations for chilled water systems

- Pipe sizing and duct sizing calculations

Ensure compliance with ASHRAE standards, IS codes, and project specifications


3) Design Development & Drawings

Prepare and review:

- Concept designs

- Schematic layouts

- HVAC zoning plans

- Equipment layouts

Coordinate with draughtsman for preparation of detailed shop drawings

Ensure accuracy and clarity in all design outputs


4) Coordination with Consultants & Stakeholders

Coordinate with:

- Architects

- MEP consultants

- Clients

- Project teams

Attend design meetings and present technical concepts

Incorporate feedback and finalize design approvals


5) BOQ, Specifications & Technical Submissions

Prepare:

- BOQs (Bill of Quantities)

- Equipment specifications

- Technical data sheets

Support estimation and sales teams in tender preparation


6) Value Engineering & Optimization

Identify cost-saving opportunities through design optimization

Suggest alternative systems, materials, or layouts

Balance:

- Cost

- Performance

- Energy efficiency


7) Site Support & Execution Coordination

Provide technical support to project execution teams

Resolve design-related issues during installation

Ensure:

- Design intent is maintained

- Practical feasibility on site


8) Compliance & Standards

Ensure all designs comply with:

- ASHRAE guidelines

- IS standards

- Local authority requirements

- Project-specific specifications


9) Documentation & Version Control

Maintain all design documents and revisions

Ensure proper documentation for approvals and execution


IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:

48 years of experience in HVAC design (commercial projects preferred)

Strong hands-on experience in:

  • Heat load calculations
  • Equipment selection
  • System design (VRV/VRF, Chillers, AHU, Ventilation)

Proficiency in:

  • AutoCAD
  • Excel (advanced level for calculations)

Strong understanding of HVAC codes, standards, and design practices

Experience in design coordination with consultants

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Good communication and presentation skills
