Acts as the decision authority for when to use AI vs deterministic engineering, ensuring that solutions are built with the right level of intelligenceno more, no less. This role evaluates problem statements and systematically determines whether a rule-based, statistical, or GenAI-driven approach is most appropriate based on factors like predictability, explainability, cost, latency, and risk.

Designs and implements deterministic pipelines (rules engines, heuristics, traditional ML) where outcomes are well-defined and repeatable, while enabling LLM/GenAI pipelines (RAG, agents, prompt workflows) only where ambiguity or unstructured reasoning truly requires it.

Owns the evaluation, validation, and guardrail layer across both deterministic and AI-driven systemsestablishing golden datasets, regression frameworks, and measurable quality metrics (accuracy, groundedness, latency, cost). Ensures AI outputs are reliable, safe, and compliant through schema validation, hallucination checks, and policy enforcement.
